I see what you're trying, but this is just stupid.
Also, if you read through the thread you'd see fans from both sides being cocky, and fans being humble and respectful.
Don't generalize

Re: Quarter final: England vs Italy discussion
In competitive matches the two teams are close despite Italy being far more successful championship-wise.
Italy have won 9
England have won 7
They have drawn 6
Should be a good match.

That, and we're generally self-depreciating anyway.

Cash money Cole is clutch and does not deserve to be grouped with the likes of Terry and Young

While that maybe the case he's still a c*nt and refuse to support people i dont like.... because i'm from the same country as someone dont mean i should have to support them....
I have had no connection to the english national team since Shearer retired in 2000 it's full of arrogant, overrated, overpaid c*nts with over-inflated opinions of themselves who could'nt care less about anyone but themselves.
Cole for example laughed when we lost 4-1 to Germany.
F*ck him.

Re: Quarter final: England vs Italy discussion
I'm scared of England's pace, Gerrard, Welbeck, etc.
Lol Balzaretti vs whoever is on england's right (young or milner, idk) is gonna be laughable, he won't keep up. Abate will be fine
I can't see England coping with our attacks.. we just need to finish better.
Forza Italia.

Lets be honest it's mostly because of club loyalties.
P.S. Whoever banned Fever, Wiggles, Sciacca & Giancarlo from these forums is.......
Would have been an epic trollfest of a game. ;/

Calling it now.
England 2-1 Italy.
We'll be in the semis at least. This team has got the Chelsea fire in it.

No, mate. Real reason is that you're not supporting the team because there aren't any Newcastle players in it, which is quite sad.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:While that maybe the case he's still a c*nt and refuse to support people i dont like.... because i'm from the same country as someone dont mean i should have to support them....

Re: Quarter final: England vs Italy discussion
For us the problem is unknown sides and sides who run at us with pace, press high and employ hoofball tactics.
England under Hodgson are exactly that, they will cause us serious difficulty. No doubt Italy will control the game in terms of possession, England made Sweden and Ukraine appear at times like incredible possession sides, but they will counter well and test us at set pieces.
It's going to be tough...but no matter the outcome it changes little, English cant play football for sh**, technically speaking they've been woefull so far, outclassed by every side they've played, but it's working. Hodgson has realised their real level and is playing to their strengths.
If England tried to play like The Germans, The Spanish, The Italians do...frankly they would massacred. This way they at least maintain a level of competitiveness. I have friends who dream of England playing continental style football, but I don't think it's ever going to happen.

I am confident England will beat them.
Should be a good game.

@ Arte....Carroll maybe good in the air, but he offers nothing else. He has a poor touch, his hold up play is non existant and he makes England play a more direct hoof ball tactic. He did very well to take his header v Sweden, but v a defensive team like Italy, England will need to keep the ball in ground and unlock them via quick link up play......+ direct crosses, both options in which welbeck and Rooney excell at (as proven for United)
With Welbeck, England have more to offer up front. Welbeck was quite v Ukraine today due to England's deep lying CM'ers and the fact that England's wingers are really poor. He has to feed off scraps. But deliver a good ball in the box, like v Sweden, and you see that bit of improvisational play that is needed at the top level. Plus his close control and passing is better suited to partner Rooney.
Carroll's touch is bad only when he tries to keep the ball or dribble - which he does almost never, he always looks for a quick pass when he receives the ball outside the box. His lay-offs from long balls are world-class, whether it is by head or feet he most of the time knocks the ball down for a team-mate. His hold-up play is also very good, certainly better than Welbeck's who has never attempted to play that sort of target man game.
I would start Welbeck if England a) could expect to have at least 50-50 control of midfield and b) could consistently create chances through the middle with the ball on the deck. But England haven't managed to do that against any of the three teams they've faced so far and would be a major surprise if they succeeded at it against Italy.
To further point this out, 3 out of England's 5 goals in the tournament have been headers.
The bottom line is that England will have hard time playing to Welbeck's strengths but are much more likely to be able to play to Carroll's strengths.
