Strongest European team that didnt make the Euro?
Whats the strongest European team that didnt make it to the 2012 Euro Group Stages? It must be either Belgium or Turkey in my opinion.

Add Fellaini, Kompany, Vermalaen, Vertoghen(did I spell that right?) to that list and its even more obvious.Kick wrote:Belgium, Hazard, Courtois, De Buryne and Lukaku. Some very good players there. /bias

Yea, with Mignolet, Gillet, Vertonghen, Vermaelen, Van Buyten Kompany, Witsel, Naingollan, Fellaini, Dembele, Mertens, Hazard, Lukaku, De Camargo, etc thats an extremely strong team. But Turkey are also very strong and should not be forgotten. I tuink Belgium takes this though. Serbia and Switzerland are strong as hell too.

Would have to be Belgium. According to most the only reason they didn't make it is because they lack an experienced striker, also they don't really have any good fullbacks. Against England they had Vertonghen(CB) and Gillet(afaik is a midfielder).

Turkey, Belgium, Switzerland, Serbia, Bosnia - all incredibly strong.
Turkey for me though, because, while Belgium might have the superior squad, the Turks always win on mentality. Incredibly resilient team.

I'd say Turkey, then Belgium. (And just you wait, Switzerland will qualify for the WC2014!)

Re: Strongest European team that didnt make the Euro?
I need to show some love to Switzerland, who got caught in a really awkward transitional phase during qualifying for Euro 2012 but are in the midst of a migration of young talent abroad (Shaq to Bayern, Xhaka to Monchengladbach, Francois Affolter to Bremen, Ricardo Rodriguez to Wolfsburg) that could turn out to be very fruitful in the near future.
As for the posed question, it's probably Turkey. Belgium still have a TON of work to do.

Re: Strongest European team that didnt make the Euro?
Turkey were incredible in Euro 2008, they really deserved to be called "the comeback kings".
- They were down 1-0 to Switzerland. They scored a 92nd minute winner (it was a great goal from Arda).
- They were losing 2-0 vs Czech Republic with 15 minutes to go. They scored 3 goals in 15 minutes.
- They were down 1-0 to Croatia with 2 minutes of injury time to go. Turkey scored a late, late goal to put the game to penalties (they won).
- They were down 2-1 to Germany. Turkey scored the equaliser with 4 minutes to go, but Lahm got the winner in the final minutes.
Edit: Turkey were so short on players during the competition that they had very few subs. They had to play their 3rd goalkeeper as a defender!
Turkey were by far my favorite team to watch in the Euros. I wish they could participate in this year's edition.

I agree with the ¨one word...Germany¨thing. Especially with Turkey. You know, if Germany hadnt stolen their best player.

I'm from Finland (there's no Finland's flag in the list ), but Norway's current team is pretty decent. They finished on equal points with Portugal in their quali group. Their FIFA ranking is 24th, that's better than Turkey's (33th) or Belgium's (44th), for instance.

Re: Strongest European team that didnt make the Euro?
England are high up that ranking for some reason
But to say they deserve this competition when they actually never qualify is abit far-fetched
Any team can do good against Portugal they are horrible, Denmark raped them big time
And who is actually good in that team??? their best player was Carew says it all really
