Re: 2012 International Friendlies
LOL about people saying Neymar's a fail and this or that player for brazil isn't playing well or sucks.
How about Mexico is a really good team? IF you follow CONCACAF what so ever you would know they have been producing a hell of a team the last 3-4 years and by WC 2014 they will be a real dangerous team.
I know I know, all the players don't start in the EPL for them so they must suck or are not in Europe yet but try watching Mexico sometimes instead of just expecting Neymar and Brazil to roll over them in a pretty much home game for Mexico.
There are a lot of anyone on here's favorite national teams who would get the business from Mexico at home they just can't accept that there really good now.

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
mexico were so lucky with those 2 goals, we didnt deserve to finish the 1st half trailing. we had a bright start, but then that accidental goal and the penalty turned everything upside down for us. but that's football. mexico were mature enough to defend well and keep the result. congrats to them. neymar didnt do so well.

I thought Mexico were quite good at the 2010 WC. Then they met Argentina, didn't they? And there was like an offside goal by Tevez and so on. They're a good team. But that 2-0 lead was deceiving, we had a pretty good first half and deserved something. There was a penalty on Oscar too. But that's how football is. Mano should've rested the players, now we're going to face Argentina with a tired team, with low self-esteem

FWIW, I thought early in the game Damiao had a goal disallowed for offsides that was a terrible call.
And yes they have been knocked out of the WC the last two times I believe by Argentina.
But this team is better then those teams, and there youth teams have been excellent winning and placing very high in youth tournaments.
And BTW the Dos Santos goal was not lucky. I live in the USA and watch him play for Mexico all the time and he is a totally different player for El Tri. HE pulls off stuff like that all the time when he puts the green shirt on, he's like a totally different player and regularly looks like one of the best players on the pitch whenever and whoever he plays when he plays for MExico.

No, he's young and Brazilian, therefore he's overrated.

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
Brazil's biggest problem was that their attack lacked width just like it did at Copa America. Everyone kept cutting inside making it easier for Mexico to defend.
Other than that, the right side of their offense was non-existent, the double pivot lacked creativity, Juan is crap and Danilo can't play as a fullback.
Mexico did a great job, played the right tactics and won deservedly.

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
We were crap in the WC lol
We defended well against Brazil, but they attacked always from the wings almost every time it was just too easy for our defense.
I don't think we'll do anything of note in 2014, but Qatar better watch out

spain are gonna struggle to score. I suggest ditching alonso/busquets and start with pedro alongside the prefered striker. Iniesta and silva are not consistant goal scorers;

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
Against Mexico it was noted that there was no flow, cohesion, understanding of the players up top.
With neymar,Damiao, hulk then Oscar. They could pass, pass, but when it came to making the final move they become selfish and unaware of one another.
Hulk did it. Neymar did it. So did Damiao with the little chances he had.
Things improved slightly with Lucas coming on.
In other news Colombia won against Peru. 1-0.
Goal from James Rodriguez. Lucky too seeing as Peru missed a couple of sitters.
Peckerman still has quite a ways to go with our current squad.
Our defense is either old/washed up (Mosquera,Yepes), inexperienced (Armero), or just plain awful at times (Perea)

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
ColoJunior: I agree with you about Hulk. I think there were like moments when Hulk could've passed the ball to a unmarked Neymar or something, but he chose to dribble or try to win a penalty.
The explanation to our defeat is simple though: Mexico's tactics were superior. The coach watched us against USA (and perhaps Denmark), and was able to exploit all of our defensive flaws (that were very clear on our 2 previous friendlies). They managed to keep Neymar, Oscar and Hulk - our main creative forces - quiet and dominated the game. Our CDMs - Romulo and Sandro - haven't completely done their jobs on linking defense to attack, so Oscar had to go back and help them, which made it even easier for the Mexicans to stop Neymar and Hulk. They - the CDMs - and our defenders haven't quite understood each other yet. There should've been a CDM helping out Danilo right before Dos Santos scored the first goal - that's what you saw on the opposite side, when Neymar was attacking, there was always 1 or 2 CDMs helping the fullback and/or centerback.
And so on.
Mano needs to try to fix these flaws, or else we won't go far. He has a good team overall, so I think it's fixable with 2-3 changes (or 4..).
I think he is now more aware of our flaws, and will try to be more careful against Argentina. Or so I hope. Or else, we will get raped.
But I hope we don't go back to that awful football we were playing prior to Denmark.

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
Brazil can no longer just impose their style. They don't have a talent gap to rely on. The manager needs to think tactically... 1) you can't break a park-the-bus defense thru the middle. You need to have your fullbacks attack wide hard to open things up. 2) what's the point of having a big 9 in Damiao if you're not going to use him. 3) both Neymar and Hulk are cut in wingers. You need fullbacks that are traditional overlapping ones to complement them. Marcelo and Danilo are tactically inept offensively and defensively.
Just disappointing that Brazil cannot adjust. Argentina doesn't either btw. Both these countries are going to struggle against better and organized teams until they face some realities. Arrogance doesn't win you trophies.

what is this? arrogance? who's being arrogant here or on the NT?
so, did brazil never use tactics before? we won 1994 and 2002 just because of our talent? not to mention the other titles we've won.. give me a break, man. the problem here is simple: our coach is not good enough, and our best players are not so experienced. now our coach has improved a bit, but it's still early and it takes time to fix our flaws.
snd how do you mean that marcelo is inept? did u not watch brazil x usa? my god..
i think u need to rewatch last night's match to understand why things didnt work out.

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
Against teams like US, who are still deficient in talent, Brazil can do what it wants.
Back in 1994, 1998 and 2002, the Brazil NT was supremely talented and had a massive talent advantage against most. In 1998 and 2002 and 2006, almost all the Brazil players were experienced and playing for big clubs in Europe.
Now, the talent gap is not there and the experience is lacking in both players and coaches. Marcelo is horrific tactically, so i won't even talk about him. The only players who really know what they're doing at an elite level are Silva and, to a lesser extent, Hulk. Sandro is ok too. But that's it.
I just see zero adapting by Brazil against better sides. You can't do that now.

Was good with the ball and made some good efforts from the flank. He troubled Brazil enough in the first half , though he could do better with his movement without the ball.
