He's just clearly intimidated by Podolski, that's all.

I dont think Grioud fears any player, all he was missing was Sushi Masters blessing.

He hasn't been bashed that much by the media because of his relatively less price tag.
He will come good.

He can't hold the ball. That's an absolute no-no for a player of his type. DD yanked him from the last game because of this. He needs to fix this and quick.

His hold up play has to improve, during the Montpellier game when the ball went up to him he kept loosing it.

I agree with you but as long as others are scoring I am not worried about him yet, we will give him as much as time he needs. One player I think will help Grioud score goals is Theo, I hope he starts next game.

Re: Olivier Giroud
Depends what you think 'enough is'. With Poldi, Cazorla, an ever-improving Gervinho in the squad and a more team-centered approach to scoring we won't need a 20+ goals season from him this year. Having said that, below 10 goals would be disappointing.gunnerlistick wrote:aleumdance wrote:He will score

MJ said it all, its now a Team effort to score
so somebody scoring 10 a season is more than enough

Weather Grioud starts scoring or not we do need a top Striker in January.

Re: Olivier Giroud
Well, say Giroud starts firing. We would then have Podolski, Gervinho, Theo, and AOC all available on the wings, with the first 3 all (arguably) capable of playing in the center to back Giroud up without hurting us badly out wide, and of course Chamakh or Arshavin too if we got hit with an injury crisis. A top striker would not necessarily be a must.Raptorgunner wrote:Weather Grioud starts scoring or not we do need a top Striker in January.
I actually agree with you in the sense that I'd love to have another top guy up there, but who could we get? Huntelaar maybe? Cavani for however many millions it would take? Our options don't seem as plentiful as they did a short time ago. Then again, if we do manage to find Chamakh another club, I can certainly see us bringing in someone.

I am setting Giroud a target of at least 15 goals, it's achievable . Even Bendy hit 15 once despite not being first choice.

With gervinho's current form. We can continue playing a front 3 of Podolski-Gervinho-Oxlade tbf

Re: Olivier Giroud
i dont understand why wenger brought this guy? he isnt an arsenal player, he cant run or pass, id call him average but thats not the problem.
atm sanogo is an "average" striker as it stand, but at least overall his general game suits us, sanago can pass and run, thats what we need upfront. with sanogo in the side we can string passes together. with giroud upfront, because of his poor technique; he loses the ball every time he touches it.
sanogo HAS to start for us every game, he may not be as experienced or even as calm infront of goal as giroud (giroud is nothing to smile about infront of goal anyway), but sanogo's general play helps us as an attacking threat significantly.

Re: Olivier Giroud
REWB, no doubt he's not playing great right now and I think we can all agree he's not the ideal player for us in that position ... but let's not forget that he's had some very, very good stretches of form. In the early part of the season his play was excellent. Period. It's revisionist to overlook that fact.

he was never "very, very good", he was decent, he got the job done but overall his game was lacking, even when he was scoring goals in the early part of the season. in many games he would play average and somehow end up getting a goal and we would win 1-0. all season, our attack has never been convincing with him upfront.

Re: Olivier Giroud
I disagree. Things were looking quite nice a few months ago. His hold up play was solid, and he looked much more confident and decisive. Henry even said during Giroud's good run that you could see a killer instinct.
Look, I think Giroud is overall not good enough to be our starting striker - ideally. I am still sad we didn't close the deal on Higuain. I hope that this is an area upgraded in the summer. And it is infinitely frustrating to me how much Giroud rolls around the ground "injured" when he's playing poorly. But in my opinion he was looking very solid in the first months of the season and while no one would say he is even near the level of eg Suarez, it is a disservice to say he was merely decent or average. It was a really good run of form and he was doing well in many facets of play.
Presently he isn't doing so well...

Re: Olivier Giroud
I don't judge him on his abilities, overall I think he's exactly what you could get for his price tag, not his fault suddenly he has become undisputed starter and goal source for a team who competing on three front.
I think he's mental midget though and that's bad for someone who lead the line. I'm sure he's a nice guy but sometimes you need to be reckless & a bit of a *bleep* if u will. I miss the coldness of Denis, the confidence almost borderline arrogance of Thiery, and there is no question Adebayor and RVP are class A *bleep* (sometimes it helps ). I mean if ref is loose, muscle out that *bleep* who chopped you down, you're big man instead of holding your hands over your head and mumbling in French.
Oh well at least, we got better one than Soldado.

Re: Olivier Giroud
Giroud expose by The Sun again?
The fan told The Sun on Sunday: “I couldn’t believe it was Giroud at first, even though the messages were coming from his official sites.
“I thought ‘What’s a married dad doing coming after a 20-year-old?’
“I was flattered but dared not believe he was interested.
“I told him I was an Arsenal fan — I have posters on my wall. But I only started believing he fancied me when I got the United tickets.”
The fan added: “He sent a photo of him flexing his bare chest and in trousers which showed he was clearly aroused. He texted, ‘Hihi keep it for u’.”
He then told her to meet him in the Marriott Worsley Park ahead of the Manchester City game and told her to “be an agent like 007 James Bond” to get past security.
The girl said: “He named the other guy and said it would be a threesome. I was amazed. He was texting his friend who was in another room. I said it was not going to happen. I’m not a prostitute and that is not my thing. He seemed disappointed.
“After we got intimate I managed to take a photo of Giroud in just his underwear.
“He was wearing cheap cartoon pants, something French I think.
“I was shocked he would wear something so tacky.
“I asked him what people he knows buy him as presents, because he has everything and so much money. He just said he works very hard for his money.
“There was some bottled water in his room which I know can be bought from Harrods. I told him it was a waste of money because it tastes like tap water.
“Soon afterwards, about half an hour after I had arrived, he ushered me out the door. I was left in the corridor, penniless, and confused. I didn’t know what to do.”
Unsurprisingly, she then claims that she never heard from him again.
"Giroud is a love rat and completely unprofessional," she said.
“He deserves to be exposed. I feel sorry for his wife and child.
“I am an Arsenal fan and would never dream of doing a kiss and tell on a player.
“But when I read The Sun on Sunday story about him entertaining a model in the team hotel, and then lying about it, I wondered how many girls like me there really are.
“Giroud made me feel cheap and he is treating the fans like mugs.
“How many times has he been up half the night before a match romancing girls he wooed online?”
