How highly do you rate Schweinsteiger?
Is he the most complete player in the world? He had a relatively bad season by his standards last season, but it was mainly because of constant injuries so he was never healthy long enough to regain his best form, similar to Pato's problems. But I see him as being able to dictate play better than anyoneexcept for Pirlo and Xavi, but is more complete than them with his workrate, versatility, and defensive ability. What do you guys think of him? Is he still considered a top midfielder after this season? I consider him to be, but I would like to know how others rate him.

One of the best midfielders in the World. However I'd take other players who are better at certain things than him.

Re: Former Player: Bastian Schweinsteiger
He had only 1 Great Season,2009-10 that was a World Class season after years of mediocrity as a winger where he showed great promise but could not shine.
Great player,at his best. Too many injuries now. Looks like a shadow of a players. Its like he is fading away & Kroos is taking his place.
He is Bayern's heart & soul though. Hope he comes back with a bang. He can be the World Class player he once was

Scweinsteiger isn't even the best in his role in his own team. You forgot someone by the name of Javi Martinez.
As for end all best. DDR most would agree is above him in this respect as Bastian hasn't been the same in his consistency since Van Gaal as he is also in danger of being overtaken by Kroos. Plus DDR completely dominated Scweinsteiger in the Euros

Schweini was injured for Most Part of Bayern Season Last Year,
Without him The Team Fell apart, we were busy KeepIng 10 clean sheet, belittling teams like Manchester City at Bay, First Team to stop them from Scoring, all this Fell apart When Schweini was injured, Can DDR Top that?
As for me, I Would Rather compare DDR with Gustavo. Schweini is Not Even 29 yet, Check his appearance and See for yourself.
Re: Former Player: Bastian Schweinsteiger
Piggy has deceived me. He had one beast year and has fallen off big time since. De Rossi, Busquets (yes, he can play this role easily), Vidal, etc are all better than him now imo. He was a complete fail in the Euro and he had a great team around him...

Bastian has 36 apps last season. I would hardly call that injured for most part of the season. Yes he had his world class performances yet it was nowhere near in consistency as it was previously as well as for Germany.
And no the team fell apart last season with Schweini mostly because Jupp was either to inept or just inflexible to change his formation and system in accordance to his absence as many managers are guilty of this. It doesn't necessarily mean the absence of Schweinsteiger has affected Bayern but mostly by poor tactical inflexibility.
Compare DDR to Gustavo? Why cause DDR is a destroyer? I really hope the Roma/Italia fans don't see this. In short, DDR literally the pillar of defensive combat and offensive/playmaking endeavour for his teams. In other words he is very similar to Schweinstieger in his completeness except has done it for longer and mostly does it better.

Excellent player but looks a bit off form these days. Or Kroos is outshining him.

Re: Former Player: Bastian Schweinsteiger
Who is Schweinsteiger? The blond aryan guy who plays for 'Die Mannschaft' and was the best midfielder at the world cup in South Africa? The midfielder who tore the Argentina of Maradona and Messi single-handedly apart? The guy who was, together with Robben, the most influential player for Bayern in 2009/10 in securing the double (Bundesliga & Pokal) and marching their way into the UEFA Champions League final? The dude who was until their CL home game against Napoli (where he sustained a broken collarbone) by far the best midfielder, together with Pirlo and Silva, of the 2011/12 season in the European continent? ahh, that guy..he doesn't play for Barca, Real or one of the big EPL sides..surely he can't kick a ball then!
Seriously how can one doubt the qualities of Schweini? Ok, since he came back from that injury he was for most of the time below his usual level..but we are talking about the same guy who from 2009/10 onwards was one of the absolutelly finest players in europe.. and perhaps maybe the most complete midfielder?
He may not have the same visionary of a Pirlo or a Xavi but there ain't no other player who can grab the game by the scruff of the neck better than Schweinsteiger, outside that two (and maybe David Silva when he is on it and in form). Schweinsteiger is the only player at the moment who can put A commander-in-chief domination, outside the visionary players like Pirlo/Xavi/Silva etc, without having that kind of visionary. He will battle his way into domination through work ethic, leadership, typically German determination to win and 'outmuscle' the opponents when it has to be done. And besides all these thing he also plays occasionally that playmaking killer pass.
Some players can come back from a long injury and go back to form immediately. Some players need some (more) time to works back towards match fitness to get on their full form. Schweinsteiger belongs to the 2nd group. But when he hits his form he is the best and most influential player for both Bayern and Germany. Is he the best midfielder defensively? No. But he is very solid. Is he the best midfielder influential-wise? No. But then again he is the 'best of the rest'. Is he the best box-to-box midfielder? No, but there are not many better. And so you can go on with each other department..he will not once come out as the best but he will always end top 6/7/8 in each depertmant. Like Steven Gerrard in his best days. And that my people, that makes a complete midfielder. Is Schweinsteiger a complete midfielder? absolutely! Is he the most complete midfielder at the moment? Perhaps.
People who don't see and/or doubt Schweinsteiger's abilities, cause he hasn't the media attention of the Barca/Real midfielders, can't be taken seriously. Serious.

On topic, Schweini is still a top 5 midfielder. Form doesn't change that. When he gets himself right, he'll dominate again just as he used to. One of the best, if not THE best converted players of his generation.

Re: Former Player: Bastian Schweinsteiger
TBH I fully believed him when Schweinsteiger said "I didn't feel this healthy since last february" - ever since he broke his collarbone, and had his ankle injury right after that, he had to play because Bayern couldn't replace him. He was played when 90% fit. That's how you get a player to "almost show up" for an entire season.
He's still world class, and now that he can actually rest a match when injured and let Martinez take over, we'll see the 2009 to 2011 Schweinsteiger again. The one that dominated at the WC and the UCL.

I agree that he wasn't even top20 last year.
I think he'll be back within the next 6 weeks though. Back to Top3.

DDR I truly respect him a lot but Gustavo is the most destructive player on the surface of the earth, in that aspect Gustavo is a better destructive midfielder.
https://goallegacy.forumotion.com/t24291p36-best-defensive-midfielder-in-the-universe
There is a debate about Gustavo and DDR going on, while most people even like myself agree that DDR is the better player overall, but you have to concede that Gustavo is the best Destructive player at the moment, t's not a mistake he took over from Van Bommel.

Re: Former Player: Bastian Schweinsteiger
To be honest Martinez was even more impressive & Kroos IMO was better.
Based on current form it might turn out to be Kroos-Martinez-Muller-Robbery-ST.
Schweni has to pull up his socks. Brilliant little cameo from Martinez. Bayern have insane attacking depth.

How in the world was Martinez and Kroos more impressive..?
Schweini was evenly impressive, 2 goals in 2 starts, whats up with you dude..?
Based on Current form Robben should hit the bench.
it should be.
--------------Gustavo/Schweini/Martinez-------------------
Muller-------------------Kroos--------------------Ribery
------------------------Mandzukic------------------------------
Robben hits the bench, until he prove his worth otherwise he could be sold next season.
Re: Former Player: Bastian Schweinsteiger
Schweini and Martinez will start, Gustavo will rotate with them, Kroos is the #10, might rotate with Schweini occasionaly, Müller will rotate with Robben and Kroos on the wings and "in the hole", most likely.
