If they won against Cagliari, assuming Milan also won against Inter (best result) then it would have been +3 going into the last match.

With +3, the best Milan could do would be to match Juventus on points, in which case Juventus would win because of head to head records.

What I mean is taking yesterdays results into consideration, if we beat Lecce instead of the 1-1 draw the title would have been over yesterday anyway. Not before it.
