Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread
Afellay, who is currently training with the Holland squad ahead of Euro 2012, joined Barcelona from Dutch side PSV in January 2011, but he has struggled for match time since, featuring just five times last season following complex knee surgery that ruled him out for seven months.
The long-running injury problems have been common place in Afellay's career so far, but sensing an opportunity for profit given their £2.3 million outlay 18 months ago, Barcelona have put the 26-year-old up for sale and believe his starting berth for Holland at the Euro's will be a perfect platform to boost his price.
The La Liga runners-up are desperately trying to raise extra cash to help fund a summer of spending, and offloading Afellay and his wages is a priority, with the Dutchman not lacking potential suitors.
North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham are both long-term admirers of the player, with Gunners skipper Robin van Persie enjoying a close personal relationship, while Spurs have twice failed with loan-to-buy offers in recent years.
However, Newcastle are now believed to be the front runners for Afellay, with the only question mark being whether the fleet-footed playmaker would want to move to the North East.
PLEASE BE TRUE WOULD BE SO GOAT

I would like for Affelay to stay but no source has said that he will. What Mundo Deportivo has said however is :
"He wants Alves, Keita, Tello and Cuenca on the team" He meaning Tito (notice no Affelay) but my question to Barca fans is can you see seydou staying with Pep no longer being the coach???

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread
Chelsea have agreed a fee of £38m for the Porto striker Hulk and the deal is ready to be closed. The figure has been brokered by facilitators working on behalf on each club and, with the Brazil international's personal terms not expected to be an obstacle, it merely remains for the directors on both sides to sign the relevant paperwork.
The Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, as ever, will reserve the right to renegotiate until the last minute yet there is a confidence, not least on Hulk's part, that there will be no glitches, after what has been a lengthy process, and that he will get the move that he has craved, subject to a medical.
Porto have been happy to push the line about Hulk's release clause being €100m and although the Guardian has now learned that the figure is €60m [£48m], the Portuguese club have been forced to accept less, not least because only Chelsea have been willing to make a competitive offer. The release clause was never going to be binding. Porto had wanted no less than £40m but Chelsea have haggled them down.

£38m is way too much. wtf
Then again Falcao went for a similar price and Andy Carroll was £35 ******** million so it's hard to argue with the fee.

Knowing us it will probably be a kid in both cases
Hoping the highly-rated defender is Debuchy as if we have any hope in hell of getting that done we need to do it ASAP.
The rest can wait

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread
Afellay IMO is actually a No.10. He is a good player but the problem with him is he plays with head down and completely ignores his team-mate's runs sometimes.
Other than that he is too good to get wasted in Barca bench. And I doubt he would go to NewCastle, surely he can go to a bigger club.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread
I just saw an outrageous rumour this morning in the sports news of the ZDF (or ARD - they broadcast one program each morning and interchange between the days) Breakfast TV. They claimed that PSG was readying a 120 Mio Euro big for Wayne Rooney. o_O
Anyone else heard of that from some other source?

Seems like the defender is Nathaniel Clyne from Palace which i would be happy with as he can play LB and RB and has immense potential.
NEWCASTLE have stepped up their interest in Crystal Palace full-back Nathaniel Clyne, but have earmarked Lyon's Aly Cissokho as an alternative option should they be unable to complete a deal for the 21-year-old.
Magpies manager Alan Pardew is hoping to sign a centre-half and a full-back this summer as he looks to overhaul his back four.
With Danny Simpson's future extremely uncertain following his refusal to sign a new contract, Pardew has been devoting much of his time to scouting right-backs, and while France international Mathieu Debuchy remains a major target, the highly-rated Clyne is commanding equal attention in the corridors of power at St James' Park.
It was reported a few weeks we might buy Debuchy and Clyne lets see if thats the case.
In anycase any of them mentioned would be a massive upgrade over Simpson.

In any case if Simpson were sold quickly i would'nt be suprised to see us sign Clyne and Debuchy.
Clyne will cost next to nothing and provide great competition to Debuchy and Santon and he cant expect to walk into the 5th best team in the Premier League straight away anyway.
We need a decent squad so it makes sense and it has been reported that it could happen many times.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread
Problem is Debuchy is being convinced by Rami and Benz to join La Liga. If a CL team comes after him, he'll go there.
Don't get your hopes too high on Debuchy mole. He won't commit until after the Euro and i'm pretty sure he'll garner a lot of interest. RB market is sparse.

He has said recently he wants to go to the Premier League though

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread
2 guys Newcastle should focus on in France. One is Isimat-Mirin, the CB for Valenciennes. He's with the U21 and looked tremendous paired with Varane. The other is Corchia at Sochaux... same profile as Debuchy.
Those are the diamonds in the rough in your positions of need.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread
We have been linked with Corchia a few times actually, first time was about 18 months ago lol.
I get the feeling we are looking for more established names this summer though if possible....
So i highly doubt they are even under consideration, especially for CB.
But considering we look like we are going to be knocked back as far as our no 1 target Mbiwa goes you never know i suppose.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread
BTW Sports Rami can do all the convincing he wants ( besides Cabaye has been doing the same lol) i dont think Valencia can afford Debuchy and they have already signed that RB from Sporting Lisbon i think they have moved on tbh.
Madrid on the other hand
Besides he says he wants English football
