Re: The Robbery of Old Trafford
Young is a disgusting diver and has been for ages
I have no idea why so few media/pundits whatever have not picked up on this
hes like the British Di Maria, he acrobatically dives and then starts appealing before hes even touched the ground

You all missed the point. I say the name Suarez and the Man U devotees come out of the woodwork.
In case you did not comprehend the first time, the point was not to proclaim Suarez's innocence. The point was that the two incidents were not at all dissimilar, but were still dealt with in vastly different ways.
- Suarez draws minimal contact in the box: gets booked for diving.
- Young draws minimal contact in the box: Derry gets sent off, penalty for Man U.
The key thing here is perception. Whether it be against an individual (Suarez himself), a team ("Man U nevers dives. They don't play like that.", or a nationality (The commentators mentioned "foreign" players. Deserved or not, it is most often attributed to Spanish and South American football.), incidents are dealt with differently because of the perception of referees. There are a plethora of examples just within the premier league. Why should one player not be punished simply because it's his first infraction? Please justify that to me. The thinking here seems to be that because Suarez always tries to draw fouls, he should be punished more harshly. However, because Young and United (in your view) never-ever dive, this one example (of petty criminality as you put it) doesn't matter and therefore doesn't deserve the same criticism/punishment. Therefore, you are treating the same infraction on totally different levels. This is precisely the type of bias I pray the officials do not possess. Unfortunately, we've seen several examples of that type of double standard.
If Suarez dives, book him. He's earned it. On the other hand, if Young dives, BOOK HIM TOO! There should be no difference, yet there often is.

Did you read my post?cyberman wrote:no, you compare suarez to a utd player just because hes a utd player... simple as.

I compared two "dives" that occurred in the same game week. One was by an English player with little reputation for the behavior. The other by a "foreign" player who does have a reputation for diving.
You appear to have come to this thread looking for a fight, and twisted my words until you saw what you wanted. Maybe if I change my avatar, signature and screen name, you'll finally be able to read what I actually wrote instead of interpreting it as me "attacking" United.

'ashley young is getting so much flak for diving ie cheating even people are saying he should be banned but fair play to him he won his team three points got a penalty ,got the player send off for nothing and if someone did that in the park there would be no cameras to see it and they would applauded.'

A Barca fan hating on United for having dubious decision given for them, that's like a cancer patient spitting on someone afflicted with leukemia.
