Doesnt change the fact their midfield was/is rubbish, and they will get easily outplayed by any decent passing team. Although their midfield was helped a lot by scholes in the glory years, so it wasnt as bad back then

tbh I didn't see enough of pirlo - if he's been doing this all season then xavi isn't comparable.. Idk I hardly watch italian league but he's incredible in this tournament

Xavi is a boring player, Pirlo is miles more fun to watch than him.

Pirlo is unmatched.

Pirlo is better than Xavi as of this season. He outclassed him for Juve and the Azzurri.

We are about to see the true colors of Pirlo against Germany, so for now Xavi has the edge over him.

Pirlo's been doing better than Xavi in this tournament so far, no question about it.

Whilst i have acknowledged Xavi's achievements i have never found him to be a 'pleasing to the eye' kind of player that Pirlo is.

Pirlo's style is more appealing imo.

Remember Xavi has no real target up front atm, Pirlo has two.

Having said that Xavi has always been a sideways pass first guy. Sure he can play some great forward passes from time to time but that's not his game.

I agree that he has become a sideway passer this year, there are lots of times where a player makes a run and Xavi seems to be looking at that direction but instead he prefers to keep the ball, I was just saying that he has not always been like that.

Like I said, between 08-11 Xavi was far more adventurous with his passes than anyone in the world and imho more so than Pirlo, Alonso or Özil are today. You just need to look at his number of assist to know that he was very adventurous with his passes. I know that assist is not everything, but it still shows that he is not conservative with his passes and make the defence splitting passes ALOT.

Everyone crying about forward passes, I dont get it.

Passing it sidesways > passing it forward to noone.
