On topic, an early goal could easily set off a slaughter in Madrid, however the conservative within me can't accept three 7 goal hauls in the Champions League knock-out stages in a week.

Can the conservative in you accept that Gomez was thiiiiiiiiis close to matching Messi's week-long record of most goals in a CL game by an individual player?

Gomez has proven himself very capable of collecting significant hauls before. If you don't man mark Gomez and he's given plenty of service, something that was afforded to him by all sides thanks in large part to a hilariously incompetent performance by the right-back, it's not so outrageous. As an individual feat it's less surprising than three collective collapses. I wouldn't be surprised if Madrid get around four or five, however at this point I'd expect Mourinho to rotate and rest.

We will see a typical Penaldo Hattrick today.
