Deserves a thread of his own and a better team than Aston Villa... Our best Aussie player currently. Though I always think Wilkshire is hugely underrated and could play for a lot of top European teams.

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
Hey, did anyone see the CL Hour on SBS last night?
Craig Foster said something like, "there should've been three penalties given against Milan in that game". No counter-argument or discussion provided, just show the clip and call them penalties. Not one, not two, but three penalties... no disrespect to BarcaKizz and the rest of the Barca fans in the forum, but that guy is just the most jerk on Earth. I admire his passion for the game in Australia, but I wish he wouldn't talk so much shit when it comes to European football. And Les Murray has really lost it too, I remember him being a much better pundit.
I think a rival football show is well overdue in Australia with some better analysts. Even on TWG, they get simple facts about players and teams completely wrong. What I do like about that show is that it's interactive and includes viewer comments from fb and twitter. Even though I've never contributed, I think it's a good initiative.
SBS is also becoming very EPL-centric. Spain, Italy and Germany rarely get any in-depth analysis. Even on World News Australia, they only show EPL highlights now... if I want to see Norwich v Wolves highlights I could just watch channel ABC, 7, 9 or 10 instead.
One HD had a similar show to TWG last year, but it was pretty lame and not innovative in any way. It tried to be a copy of TWG and failed as a result.
Does anyone agree with me here? or is there no need for a decent football show on TV in Australia. Maybe I should just rely on the much better analysis/news/opinion/media that's readily available online?

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
Craig and those guys admire Barca a lot, which means I'm obviously not naturally against them on that page. All in all, I quite like them actually and think Craig has a very good eye for the game. He's a purist though and is not afraid to speak his mind.
I didn't watch him analyse that game and I'll agree he's probably a bit Barca biased but he's not an idiot. The problem I believe is, the show isn't long enough so they aren't actually able to discuss things. They just state a few things eg "the reffing was questionable", "pitch was dodgy" etc. but don't actually discuss it. This annoys me, but its not their fault. The show is much more prominent than it was only 4 years ago, so I think they're doing a great job for Australian football.
Les is just old, and he's a host so he doesn't get to give many opinions. I think he's a bit forgetful (need I say senile? ), but hard not to like him.
I think Craig is provocative, which makes a lot of people dislike him. ie. He regularly just says "I don't like this player" and gives no reason. He said it about Barca players etc before, but he's taken away by the current players, system and management. While if you're not a Barca fan I can see it would be f*cking annoying, but there is a lot of good to his 'campaign'. He's trying to get Australians to notice Barca, and even La Liga, more, so we can learn from them and apply it to Australian football. We can learn sooooo much from that system and we are in the process of playing more 'continental' football thats for sure. I'd like this process to continue so we have that type of attractive and tactical football, rather than outdated English fotball.
On the EPL centricity. Its always been like that, and its definitely not getting worse. It used to be very difficult to get any highlights from other leagues, now TWG normally provides a quick overview. The thing is most Australians follow EPL, not much else. The main problem, again, is that the show is 1 hour and their dedication to providing 30 mins on Aussie football means 30 mins on all European football... which is just waaay too short.
Another show? Yeah it would be great, but I have a feeling they'd concentrate as much on EPL.
On a side note... David Basheer? Great host and great commentator. He's class, really love his commentary. Seriously, only Martin Tyler compares for me.

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
Can't say that I like Basheer's commentary that much. He tends to get sidetracked by stats a bit instead of focussing on the game. He's a great host though.
Martin Tyler is the only English commentator I can stand, in fact, he's pretty great. All the rest I have heard are highly biased and uninformed about anything non-English.
TWG needs to be longer. Remember the days when the show went for the whole of Sunday afternoon? The content wasn't always that good, but they never ran out of time to discuss everything. I don't really accept the argument that other league's highlights are hard to get.
Ideally they should have 2 shows, 1 for Australian football and the Asian Champions League and another for the rest of the world with the emphasis on Europe.
With Craig, he has been good for the advancement of the Australian football style, tactics and thinking, but he likes to bring Barca into every single conversation, even if it's not relevant. Everything has to be 'the Barca way' or the highway. I always expected a slightly imbalanced discussion of the game, but any Milan fan who heard that would've felt absolutely alienated by his comments. They gave no credit to Milan at all.
You're right about Les, hard not to like him even though he seems completely out of it at times.

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
As a Barca fan who's been a fan before I even saw anyone in Australia wearing a Barca jersey, or anyone even caring about their results... I'm happy to see him bringing attention to them. If that makes sense.
Its a double-edged sword though... basically because I feel like an elitist. I judge every other muppet in a Barca shirt (or should I say Messi shirt) as if they're bandwagoners

a friend of mine got a 360 for $100, although he was saying the there was some fine print to the sale that he was only aware of because he has a friend that works at dick smith, anyway apprently there were only two $100 360s being sold in NSW
