When Alves is back to being fit Adriano should bench Alba and it's not close.

Is a stretch to say best fullback in La Liga this season? He must be in the running at least?

What about Essien?

Second to Essien of course. Though Madrid might bring back Sahin for leftback so he might drop down to 3rd. No shame in that.

BTW, Adriano did go off and was holding his hamstring..he might of pulled it slightly from what it looked like.

Great player and hopefully injuries won't stop his good form and presence in the team. Wasn't jsut his shots but his availability. However, Im concerned when he plays on the right hand side that he attacks too much and forgets about defending... Three times A.Madrid were on the counter (Falcao ), play was on the right hand side and Adriano was no where to be seen. Positioning was like against Madrid in the SuperCopa...

Can't defend well. To be a great fullback, you gotta be good attacking and defending wise. Alba can only do one well enough...

note: people asking about adriano possibly being subbed off because of an injury, but at this moment there are no reports on an injury.

He will probably be rested next game for Dani Alves anyways then the Christmas break would be enough rest to bring him back to full form should he be remotely injured.

Not really. Adriano for his great form isnt a better player than Dani Alves, meanwhile, he is a better player than Alba.

I am not found for fullbacks who cant defend and take as long on the ball as he sometimes does.

Superb in attack, one of the best. But there is too much more to the game than that.

Alves was better than Adriano but we can't really be sure anymore, can we?

And don't understand the Alba hate, the lad is a machine.

He is also a machine who cant defend and too often takes 3-4 touches when 1 or 2 is needed.

And yeah, im sure Dani Alves is still better. Injury isnt the same thing as decline.

He is still the most comfortable fullback on the ball by a distance and the best individual defender out the 3.

Idk why we don't play him more often. He seems to offer more defensive stability than alba, while being much more physical in attack (rather than relying on speed). He should have started at LB against madrid if we were going to play Alves.

I always thought of him as a really good signing, though he does make some mistakes sometimes. He also is the only one who seems to be willing to shoot outside the box (and not bad at it either).

He should be our starting leftback, no question in my mind about that.

He aint Abidal, but he sure as hell aint Alba either.
