Re: Adriano
i was expecting more from him , as he is so versatile. But his injuries are hindering his progression.
Need a sub for Abidal, whose it is the last seasonn at the highest . his body won't support a full season or at least it is not a risk to take.

Re: Adriano
Top player, devestatingly effective going in behind and putting in low crosses. Our best player at this I feel.

Re: Adriano
Cuenca is better at crossing.
Is Adriano the most fragile player in the world together with Robben?
He can't play two full matches in a row. A terrible signing in that respect. He is a rotation player, but even if he was good enough, he couldn't be a starter.

Re: Adriano
Out for 10 days, another muscle injury. He is so fragile, I lost my patience with him. He is walking injury, it isn't the first time when he is subbed off at HT because of injury.

Dos Santos? Montoya would be miles better at that position.

Re: Adriano
I wouldnt say miles better but Montoya could be a better option because its his "natural position". JDS can play comfortably at rightback. I do prefer Montoya though.

Re: Adriano
Montoya is a lot better, in fact he's better than Adriano as a right back actually.
This injury problem is making it clear we need to buy a LB next season.
Next season :
RB: Alves, Montoya
CB: Pique, Mascherano, Puyol, Bartra, Muniesa
LB: Adriano, *New Dude*
Not bad, I think Pep rates Bartra and Muniesa higher than Fontas and might actually give them some games. It needs to be made clear that Pique has competition though, some way or another.

He was the last season before we signed him, he spent half of the season injured with muscle injuries. Before of that he wasn't though.

FYI I have watched dos Santos play as RB for Barcelona a few times and he did a decent job defensively. Therefore I'm not "making stuff up" as you put it. Maybe you should watch more Barcelona matches, apparently being a culé and all?
Re: Adriano
Yeah, but it is not his natural position. He has only played RB in pre-seasons and while he wasn't bad, Montoya is much better.

Re: Adriano
Sure, considering Nsue is pretty quick down the wings as well it is logical to have Montoya.
Re: Adriano
"Subiremos a Montoya"
"Superar pruebas es lo mejor que tiene este equipo. Cada reto que nos ponen, intentar superarlo", ha destacado Guardiola, quien ha restado importancia a la lesión de Adriano y la expulsión de Alves: "Encontraremos dos más, es igual. Es una lástima, pero los encontraremos. Subiremos a algunos del filial, a Montoya".
Montoya is the one picked by Pep to replace Dani.

Re: Adriano
There are rumours that Juve and Bayern want to sign Adriano. Considering we paid 15 milion for him, would you let him go for an offer around that same amount?
I would, not because he is bad, but because he is too injury prone. What's the use of having a player if he gets injured whenever he plays?

I commented on this on the other section, but yes I agree. If we got around the same we paid for him, as much as I rate him, we probably should sell.
That does mean we likely have to buy 2 new leftbacks though?

Re: Adriano
Is Abidal definitely gone?
You won't buy two left backs.Adriano is a very very versatile player, someone who could fit all of Pep's formations and who could plug in on the left or right any time.
Likely 1 left back- replacement for Abidal and
1 versatile utility player- replacement for Adriano.
Can't think of a better utility player who can fill LB,RB,RM,LM though.

Re: Adriano
Its a shame he gets injured so often. He is a very good player and excellent at driving into the box.
If he werent so injury prone I wouldnt mind him being first choice(now that Abidal wont return).
But since thats not the case we need a new LB.

Who knows, but we cant rely on him at this point. If Adriano wasnt leaving, we would get a new leftback...if he does leave, then that leaves an even bigger gap.
Why wouldnt we get 2 leftbacks? We signed 2 strikers in the same window before. The only reason is we would prefer to use a youth player in that position.
Pep buys versatile players, period.
