Re: Neville quote thread
The Arsenal game was like the kiss that woke the sleeping beauty.
Of course I was far from being a beauty in any shape or form given my absolute dedication to exploring every cavern, ruin, dungeon, and hideout in eye's sight.

"Chelsea played so well and deserves to be on level"
Neville after third goal
Neville after third goal
Re: Neville quote thread
Though I have to admit, in the 2nd half prior to Napolis 3rd goal Chelsea was heavily dominating, but that lasted only for like 15 minutes, still, I was basically expecting Chelsea to draw level any moment during that time. Lucky for all it didn't happen. Football won yesterday.

As for Napoli vs Chelsea, for my money Napoli are the ones with the more talented players.
Other than Mata, who else would they realistically start?
Goodness me, I really didn't expect you to post something like that.
He is an expert pundit and is actually breaking the cycle of cliched analysis- hence the reason he is getting praise for his punditry from everyone in England. He brings in depth tactical analysis.
Sure his commentating isn't that good, but to say he doesn't know anything about football? cmon man..

Re: Neville quote thread
I must coincide Gary Neville was very biased yesterday, but he normally is a great pundit so shouldn't judged be on one game alone, but I won't be surprised if he is.
On a side not, I can't see how people didn't see this was a joke, he was clearly taking the mick out of the BBC pundits that said how many German players will get in to England's team.

Re: Neville quote thread
It was'nt the bias that had a problem with it was the complete and utter disrespect he had for Napoli......
Plus he showed a real lack of knowledge towards Napoli which leads me to believe is knowledge is restricted to the PL.
He has been a very good pundit so far that is true but that is restricted to PL so perhaps thats where his knowledge of the game ends.

.
Well, to an extent it was bias, because Chelsea didn't play that great and he repeatedly mentioned unwarranted praise onto them.

I didnt say it wasnt bias( atleast i didnt mean to portray that way), i was saying it wasnt the bias i had a problem with....
More so the disrespect for Napoli was the issue i had more than anything.

No he isnt. I admit, he says some sensible things from time to time. But none of it anything outstanding that made me sit up and really thin,k.
No, he doesnt know nothing. But the way he spoke about Napoli tells me he knows nothing about them. His outrageous comments were equalled by my overzealous words about him but they stuff he was saying were that bad.
Most of those cluched analysis comes from the same source, not watching and sticking to what may of applied years ago. He did that yesturday.

The Franchise, that is very harsh. Neville clearly knows what he is talking about, he talks a lot of sense, too, which is one of the reasons he has been a great addition.

Perhaps in terms of English football, but as I said, that game displayed it was completely different when it came to Napoli and I would then assume Italian football as a whole.

I agree with Franchise. Outside of the EPL he is as narrow minded as your average fan who only follows his team and the odd game in that league.

Yeah, I agree with that, but I don't get people (not targeting you, mate) who say he has poor knowledge when he has proved over the past 18 months his knowledge is sound. Outside the English league then, yes, you're right, but it's mostly like that with English pundits, I feel.

From the arsenal tottenham game.
Commentator (can't remember his name): 'well you can argue about the technical merits but as far as watching football and excitement it has to be the barclays premier league.'
Neville: 'aw, it makes it the best league in the world. It's not in question. People talk about the Italian league, Spanish league, they never give us games like this. We get them 5-10 a season. Absolute magnificent occasions.'
Donkeys arseloving their BPL..

Please get him far away from commentating.
If having sloppy defensive mistakes and having a load of goals for one team makes a league the best then non-league school football > all.

Looks like Neville was right in regards to why Chelsea will put them to the sword in the 2nd leg.
Napoli are decent team, but were way over hyped in this forum.

Chelsea didn't really put them to the sword though. Chelsea showed great spirit and determination to win that game.
Napoli didn't really show up IMO.
