Wenger: Podolski deal not done yet
The Arsenal boss has insisted that reports of a deal being done for the Germany international are wide of the mark and that a timescale could not be put on the move
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has dismissed reports that the club have completed a deal for Koln striker Lukas Podolski.
It had been reported that the Germany international recently passed a medical with the Premier League side ahead of a summer move to the Emirates.
However, Wenger has moved to deny the rumours and insisted that a timescale could not be put on Podolski's arrival.
“Nothing is done. No, he has not had a medical,” Wenger told the clubs official website.
“I don't master the timing [of any announcement] because that does not just rely on us. It could happen soon, it could happen later, I don't know.
“It is always a concern [that someone else could come in for him]. The speed in which you do things is important, but at the end of the day it is always the player who makes the decision.
“It is about how much they want to join you.”
The 26-year-old has scored 16 goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances this season and has 95 international caps for Germany.

Arsenal are intensifying their pursuit of Udinese striker Luis Muriel.
The young Chilean is starring on-loan at Lecce this season.
The Daily Mail says Muriel is currently in the process of applying for a Spanish passport, which would negate the difficult process of him gaining a work permit to play in England.
He has yet to make his full international debut, but Arsenal scouts were impressed by his performances at the Under 20 World Cup last year, where he struck four goals. He has found the back of the net, often spectacularly, five times for Lecce this season.

Chelsea are battling to keep hold of Salomon Kalou.
The Sunday Sun says Kalou has opened talks on an improved deal with the Blues, but he is also on the radar of Arsenal and Tottenham.
A source close to the player declared: "The main sticking point in the talks with Chelsea is about playing time. It's not necessarily about money."

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's summer spending won't end with the deal for FC Cologne star Lukas Podolski.
The £11 million signing of Podolski likely to be announced this week.
And the Telegraph says Wenger hopes to sign at least one more creative player, with Junior Hoilett (Blackburn Rovers), Eden Hazard (Lille) and Mario Gotze (Borussia Dortmund) all still on his radar.
“We want to add some strikers,” he said. “Many times people say we rely too much on Van Persie, which is true, but if we can find world-class players, we will.”

Arsenal are being linked with Valencia striker Roberto Soldado.
Los Che fear losing the Spain international this summer.
The Mirror says Soldado, who has replaced Fernando Torres in the Spain national team and could start ahead of the Chelsea striker at Euro 2012, is attracting Chelsea and Arsenal interest.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Robin van Persie,Premier League's leading scorer has a little over a year remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium and has given no indication about whether he wishes to sign an extension.
Europe's richest clubs are well aware of the situation and Barcelona, AC Milan and Manchester City are all rumoured to be keen to sign the Dutch striker.
A report on Saturday morning claimed Van Persie was now Real Madrid's top summer transfer target and that they were preparing a £25million bid.
The 28-year-old drew a rare blank in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa, but Wenger still faced questions about him after the game.
'We have had no indications yet and Champions League football is not guaranteed,' the Arsenal manager said, after being asked about his captain's future.
'Considering Van Persie, we have spoken many times about it and there is not much more to add.'
The player has previously signalled he will not open contract talks with Gunners officials until the end of the season.

Agree. Surely M'Vila would have to start if arriving for £15m or whatever it may be.
Song has to play too, surely?! Which means Song-M'Vila-Wilshere midfield right?
Is this the thinking? Personally I see Belhanda arriving more than M'Vila.
Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
maybe wenger doesnt want to use coq as a dm, and wants m'vila to rotate with song.

All the reported fees are around 20m+ And its not really like wenger to splash that much on a Defensive player.
But if we do get M'Vila, Then What will happen to Coquelin, Frimpong and Song. Because big money usualy means you have to start that player.
But a Song, M'vila and Wilshere midfield sounds good.
Who knows though

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
We don't need M'Vila, and I'm very certain that our midfielders next season will be any combination of Song, Coquelin, Frimpong, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey and Rosicky. I cannot see any midfielder of any kind coming in when we've already got seven to select from, plus the option of using Chamberlain there as well.

No, but he is very forgettable. :lol!:
Throw Diaby in there as well. 8 midfielders. No room for any more.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
The rumor market is behind times. We're no longer much into Ligue 1 talents as much as Bundesliga talents. Nowadays, the real value is there (as is talent).
No way M'Vila, Hazard and the like would have gone for 30m several years ago.

They're also behind the times when it comes to who we actually need, hence the constant links with defenders and midfielders. Yet, I don't see us being linked with any wingers.
