I smell more money than he is worth. Enough to fund a move for Götze in fact.
The funny thing is we could use Bendtner and Chamakh money to buy Gotze.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
I think we do have enough money to buy Gotze but the problem isnt only money, it also depends on our current team. Wenger is too loyal to his players and he would rather give Ramsey chance than buying Gotze. Arsenal also got strange wage structure so i dont know if we can offer his wages. I dont know about his current wages but quality players like him are always on higher wages.
Also BvB have doing well so i dont know why will he join Arsenal.

Arsenal are simply a bigger club than BvB no matter which way you cut it, as good as they've been in recent years because we're playing in a bigger league than them.

They're actually very similar to us in that they've won three league titles in the last 16 years and are a successful Champions League team (one title) (I consider us a success for staying in it 16 straight years) but I maintain that we're a bigger club because of the difference of quality in both leagues (even though Bundesliga is obviously a top league).
Also, I think we're on the rise especially if we keep RVP. How attractive would that be to a 19 year old? Going to a top team that is gaining momentum, extending RVP's contract, signing Podolski among a few other names, Champions League football and the chance to ply your trade under the lights of the Emirates as 60,000 Gooners scream your name until they're hoarse after you've just nutmegged Samir Nasri....

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
What i wanted to say was that signing Götze seems unlikely. How many big name players have Wenger brought so far in his career at arsenal? I agree that Arsenal is bigger club than BVB but they are in good position at the moment. I will be very surprised if we do sign him. I would love to have him in Arsenal but i cant see that happening. I would take him over Hazard since he is flirting with every single club.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
There are of course plenty of reasons why Mario Gotze would want to join Arsenal, or any other club of that stature, but there are few reasons why he would want to leave Dortmund at this current moment of time.
Right now, Dortmund are enjoying a great patch of success. There on course to win a second consecutive league title, and the talent they have and another great talent coming in next season, who's to say they cannot win three league titles in a row? That is something that has never been accomplished before in the club's history, so for a young kid playing for his hometown club it'd be a major acheivement.
Not to mention that they'll be looking to be do much better in Europe than they did this season.
On top of that, Germany and the Bundesliga is a great place to be right now. It's a league on the rise, and the national team is enjoying an influx of great talent.
So if I were a Gotze, or any other Dortmund player for that matter (i.e Hummels, Bender, Kagawa, Lewondowski), I wouldn't be in any hurry to leave.

Ajax's Vertonghen admits interest in joining Arsenal
The Ajax defender - a former team-mate of Thomas Vermaelen - has
confirmed that he would welcome a move to the north London club, whom
he describes as ‘magnificent’
The 24-year-old Belgian has impressed for
Ajax this season and become the subject of increased transfer
speculation, but he has highlighted his preferred destination.
“Arsenal are a magnificent club and I hear a lot of good things about
English football. If a club of Arsenal’s calibre can reach an
agreement with Ajax, then I will gladly go over," he told the Daily
Mirror.
“I have instructed my agent carefully.
“He knows which clubs I want to join, and Arsenal are one of them.”
Vertonghen added: “I haven’t signed anything with them yet.
“But I went to watch them against Milan, together with my Ajax
team-mate Siem de Jong, after [Thomas] Vermaelen invited us."

Get ride of Dirouou and bring him in. For 60k a week he would do wonders for us.

JD has recently signed contract with Arsenal and i doubt he will be sold this summer. Beside why would he join us, just to sit on the bench?

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
We don't need Vertonghen. He's not going to be starting ahead of Kos, Verm, or Per and he's too good for the bench.
I'm happy with Djourou because he's content with sitting on the bench.

Jamie Sanderson
Real Sociedad representatives due in London this week to open talks with Arsenal over Carlos Vela. All parties want to do business.
Sad to see him leaving but its good for him to go there. With Podolski arriving he wont have that many chances to play as he does in Real Sociedad.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
he is having an excellent season as well. Always said la liga is where he will show his true potential.
we should put a sell on clause thing when we sell him. So if he gets sold to a big club club we get 20% of that dough

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Man, i thought you guys of all people would realize we can NEVER have too many defenders.
I'll tell you how next season is going to go. Three games in, Verm and Mertesacker get injured for two years, Djourou and Kos have to buddy up, then Kos gets injured and we're stuck with Djourou and Squid leaking goals left, right and centre
It's a tried and tested Arsenal tradition

I still have great memories of loling hard when Spurs brought Bentley for £17mil and we got about 30% of that fee.
Can almost guarantee we'll stick one on Vela when we sell him. It's an essential thing to do when you sell a young player to a mid-table club.

2nd year curse? IS it 2nd year at arsenal or 2nd year of being in good form?
Verm and Wilshere.. who else?
THis leads to defenders getting injured! Mert is 80% out for next season... what about KOS?

Are you saying he is (based on some report I missed), or are you predicting he will be (based on *the 2nd year curse* ) ?

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
vertonghen is just type of player we need, Mert is amazing but the man is too weak and will get injured more than he should in EPL. Just to be safe I would buy Ver and loan out Djourou.

Giuseppe Rossi put up for sale by Villarreal for around €14.5 million
The goal.com article technically never mentioned us as an interested party but if for some reason the Podolski deal didn't go through would anyone see Rossi as a good fit in red?

I think Rossi will end up at United or Inter.

Rossi is an Ex-United player so i don't think they would buy him - imo Italian league is more suitable for him
