We cant be cheap here for a player Podolski caliber 16 million is a fair price even though he has one year left.

Facepalm on the Chamakh wages. More deadwood is how I see this situation. Our wage structure seriously needs to be reconsidered.

I think RvP will be in the 120k p/w bracket with his new contract - Cesc was on 115k p/w when he left.. But the way I see it, him and Podolski are pretty much on the same level as godly strikers..

RvP gets the 20-30k p/w more money for being loyal, talismanic, captain and a legend in the making.

I place RVP way above Podolski as he's never performed consistently enough for a big enough club. RVP is in the top 3 this year. He deserves well over 150 per week.

I dont think Vela is coming back, he said it himself he don't want to ever come back to Arsenal.

Wenger used to be this good, now they caught on.

It's only "reported" that we're going to offer van Persie £100k. Just like it's only "reported" we're offering £90k to Podolski.

In any case, for van Persie wage should not be much of an issue. Not saying we shouldn't pay the guy handsomely but the thing that'll convince him to stay in the end is our ambition in the transfer market, not the amount of cash we'd be giving him.

Signing Podolski would certainly be a step in the right direction on that front. I suspect we'll haggle over the fee but I do hope we won't be stingy.

I heard Podolski is getting well compensated at Koln, therefore, let's not pretend Koln don't have a few pennies + the money they'll potentially receive for Podolski.

As for Chmamakh's salary, that all has to do with the fact he arrived on a free. Therefore, a £1m-£2m signing on fee and £50k a week isn't actually too bad. The problem for Chamakh is convincing teams that he need not take a pay cut.

chamakh will find his form somewhere else and i think he'll eventually prove he's worth something around that 50k a week salary range.


arsenal just isnt the place for him right now, we need players a class above him (podolski)

Okay lets put it this way then.. Köln are struggling with Podolski in their ranks.. Imagine their plight if they took a step down to Chamakh.. Hence they won't be interested in signing Chamakh on a swap..

I think Chamakh should go back to France where he was prolific, but if he wants to stay and improve his form for a squaddie, he is more than welcome.. (wouldn't say the same for Bendtner or Vela)..

Ju Young Park needs to move for his own good.. He has a year of professional football left, it is very unfair on our behalf to ruin it..

i wasn't saying he should go to koln in a deal for podolski. i was just commenting on his personal situation. i agree he's probably best suited for a return to france

Yup, I was just adding to the comments earlier in the thread regarding possibility for a swap

The fact that he has 1 year left on his contract worries me.

The economic experts at Arsenal will put in a modest bid and won't budge on it based on the fact that he has 1 year left on his deal. Look at the Chamakh saga (although he's turned out to be meh), we could have had him a year earlier, but waited just to get him for free.

I miss this Chamakh

Chamakh and Park 2 players should be getting minutes, but Wenger has other ideas for them.
