I would choose Xavi, for Albania [even though we aren't in the Euros] because we lack creativity, and play hoofball the whole time.

For Germany I would choose Wilshere:

Messi, not just cause he's Messi, but because Italy desperately need a goalscorer seeing as Cassano and Rossi are injured.

Every team apart from argentina messi. For argentina hmm, considering wc14 is still a couple of years away i'd say wilshere over xavi and iniesta. He is just an alround complete midfielder, defending, passing, knitting play together, going past players, dictating play, intelligent, aggressive, he would get the best out of messi, shame hes english where its the other way round - his teammates wont get the best out of him....

For Argentina, i choose any of the elite CBs currently. Thiago Silva, Hummels, Pique or anyone at their level.

Of course, if the restriction did not apply, i would choose Thiago Silva and Pique.

Oh and for Italy, Messi. He would run riot with the kind of players behind him helping him out.

Benzema would complete the Spanish national team.It won't even be funny how fluid the attack will be.

yeah, Cassano has resumed training but is out for at least the whole season after his mini-stroke, and Rossi suffered a serious knee injury and is in serious doubt for the tournament

if Balotelli gets injured, Italy is on on thin ice

I used the Euros as an occasion to discuss the matter. The choice isn't limited to European players only because it doesn't make sense

Maybe Xaviesta (that's practical - one name only), but it would be non-trivial to fit them in the German NT. I wouldn't choose either Messi or CR7 as they simply rarely looked convincing in their NTs.

Ah well, actually I'd just go with the German NT as-is. I think it is fine that way

I'd take Benzema 'cause with the technical ability of DaSilva, bombing forward of Perisic and Srna, smart distribution of Modric from deep - Benzema would perfectly round up our attack going forward.

He's an attacker with skill, and he and Da Silva could do some really nice combinations up front, and with Perisic and Srna coming from the wings (both more than decent shooters of the ball) there could be some open space to use. I'd really like to see how that would fair for us. In my opinion, Croatia could go very far with this lineup.

The defence is another story, even though Lovren and Vida are good for their clubs, they can disappoint when playing for the national team. I'm afraid Croatia will eventually suffer in this department in the upcoming EURO.

EDIT: I actually voted CR7 in the poll before even reading through the thread and deciding to write a reply... sooo yeah... vote gone now. Sorry Benz.

If New Zealand was in Euro I would say Pirlo, the WC showed we could defend well and we just needed a creator, Smeltz is a decent striker so we don't need a striker that bad. Pirlo so we can dictate play.
