Re: How many goals will Ronaldo put past Barcelona ?
Nope, he didn't need a penalty to it.El Pipita wrote:jiopsi wrote:It was Barcelona B without Messi, he came just to finish the scare off.buddytaller wrote:Lex wrote:Good point lol
When was the last time Barcelolna conceded three goals? Seems like an millennium ago
Against Real Betis in the Copa Del Rey last season. Match ended 3-1, if my memory serves me right Messi missed a penalty in that match.
Well he failed.
On the second thought he was starter, well anyway.

Just checked it this was the starting lineup. Messi played the full 90 minutes.
Pinto
Adriano - Pique - Milito - Maxwell
Mascherano - Xavi - Keita
Afellay - Messi - Bojan
Subs Jenfren, Abidal, Busquets
That is definitely not Barca B, and it was quite a strong side after winning 5-0 in the first leg. And Messi did hit his penalty kick over the bar.

Are you kidding Buddytaller? Any side with Milito automatically becomes a B side.

He scored a penalty from a Marcelo dive at some point..and in that preseason cup he got some kind of lucky goal deflecting off him I think.

Well you have a point, but it's hard to say that when Xavi started and Messi completed the match. Anyway I thought he was referring to Barca B the team that plays in Segunda.

Ronaldo will double his tally against Pinto today! The team will go all out, as there's little pressure on them since everyone expect them to fail horribly, perfect time to give them what they've been giving to other clubs on regular basis with sharp incisive counterattacking.

Re: How many goals will Ronaldo put past Barcelona ?
I personally think that IF Mourinho starts CR in which I believe he still will given his faith in him, I feel he will score.
One or two? One is realistic but I seriously wouldn't count out 2.
Madrid in the past week or so have even further strengthened their siege mentality by all the media pressure in terms of results and internal problems.
So I'll leave aside how I feel that Madrid will perform well in the Camp Nou win or loss.
Coming back to CR, he has one of the strongest mentalities I have ever seen in football. Rare it is that I see players under such scrutiny bounce back from such criticism and perform under certain bouts of pressure.
Aside from Barca, he has pretty much jousted it all away.
His goal (although iffy by the bonera of GKs pinto) in my opinion was a certain benchmark to how he can overcome his mental barrier against them because you must understand, it takes much more than a robust and fearsome mentality to overcome a mental block, something out of CR's control.
I imagine him preparing like he hasn't ever before in this match-up and I see him working even harder than the first leg, or any other classico for that matter.
I see CR withstanding the Camp Nou crowd and putting on what would be considered a fine performance whether he scores or not. Cristiano is one of the most competitive players today, expect something from him.
But hey, I might be wrong.

Re: How many goals will Ronaldo put past Barcelona ?
Maybe Arq, I see the logic.
But, goal aside, he didnt do squat in that game. I agree, he worked hard, but its his attacking skill they rely on and he didnt bring it after the goal.
He ran at us and tried, but all his final balls and passes were woeful.
Crashed the bar with a long distance effort, but I will take those shots from him all game because its 1 in 100 for him to score one.
Overall, I dont really believe his problem is a mental block. As you said, he is as strong a player mentally as there is.
For me, the problem is skillset. He cant just run right through us like he does the rest of the league, he now faces players who
1. Arent afraid of him
2. Have the mobility to keep up with him and the ability to read him.
Thats not to say he cant and wont score, he very well might, but the overall huge impact on the game, I am very doubting of him at this point.
I think its one of those situations were, I wont believe him capable untill he actually does it.
