New Spanish Tax Laws
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2084066/Spains-56-cent-tax-football-earners.html
Did this slip through the net??
Most of La Liga's top earners must be getting paid in Net figures so clubs are going to have to find the extra ding just to satisfy the tax man just in time when financial fair play begins to kick in.
So the tax rate jumps from 25% to 56% thanks to David Beckham.....arf!!!!!
Anyways on to the guaranteed exodus of players from la liga this summer when clubs can't afford the extra money.....who benefits?
Or should I say which la liga players will be playing premiership football next season?

Re: New Spanish Tax Laws
La Liga has never been short on talent. No amount of money in the donkey league will change that.
However it will be interesting to see how clubs cope. My guess there will be a bigger focus on youth development which will only mean good things in the long run.

oh noes, now the massive exodus that was going to happen after the beckham law was repealed IN JANUARY 2010 will definitely take place and no la liga team will ever sign a foreign player ever again!!!
get a *bleep* grip... current income tax rate for top earners (53k+) in spain is 43%

That article is so shameful and reeks of desperation.
I thought the donkey league was the best in world and didn't need La Liga scrubs? HA!
EDIT: Che's link summed up that fail.

That's the trouble with you Che.
You're always about six months behind the rest of the world.

Obviously with the Spanish government being in deep $hit they couldn't possibly change their tax laws could they? Arf!!!!
Your 43% is now 47% for earnings up to 53K+
But the footballers who earn more than semi-pro wages pay a sweet 52%
up from 45%.
Again Ouch!!!

Re: New Spanish Tax Laws
In Germany football players are taxed normally since ever. So finally the advantages of other leagues against the BL start to dwindle. ^^

i'm gonna hazard a guess that if clubs coped with an almost double tax for foreigners when the beckham rule was cancelled they'll be able to survive a 5% increase...

Re: New Spanish Tax Laws
cant blame the Spanish Government for this really, itll help them out somewhat and its nothing too major if their only comming on par with PL sides. No dount it will hurt small clubs but Liga sides are much better at intergrating youth then PL sides, in the long run itll prob benefit the spanish NT too as more spanish youngsters a given a run

Re: New Spanish Tax Laws
Actually it's not about fighting recession, but lowering the country's overall debts. And for that tax rises are a logical means for politicians. Right now the question is how to get out of the debt crisis and how to stabilize the countries' finances as a whole.

Re: New Spanish Tax Laws
Well, I guess that is easier said than done. Moreover, over the head debts are a problem not only in the Eurozone. You just need to look at the UK and US.kiranr wrote:rwo power wrote:Actually it's not about fighting recession, but lowering the country's overall debts. I know Rwo. Just feel really bad that taxes have to be raised...
On topic though, what are they expecting? That Spain's players are going to just pick up and move?

disband the euro?
It's like disbanding a soup. It's impossible to seperate the ingredients fairly .
I read that somewhere , of course
In any case , the PIGS , would suffer even more then .Not to mention football , it would downgrade instantly , rolling back the years in a wrong way..
But who knows , maybe it's the only way afterall. Countries should cut their own money, that's the way to have a decent economy , everybody knows it.
It's just some big countries in the EU , will lose some billions if this happens.

Re: New Spanish Tax Laws
Again, that's easier said than done. Moreover, it would probably make things worse for the weaker countries as then imports get more expensive. Moreover, you have not only one country that has the say there, but several. And The US rating agencies don't make things easier either. All in all it is a rather complex situation.diptiman wrote:how about depreciating the euro
And BTW, why shouldn't high earning footballers be taxed like every other person in a country? In German there was never an issue about that - high earner get high taxes. Full stop. That did lead to other clubs in other countries being more successful in obtaining high-earning stars, but on the other hand, that way we did more about developing our own stars from our youth. So it is not that bad.

Re: New Spanish Tax Laws
Oh, poor Greeks, I feel so sorry for them. Having to pay taxes to keep their own government afloat, after years of faking accounts and not paying taxes. And then they go protest and burn cars in the streets. What about the other countries who have to pay taxes to give the Greeks money that we will never get back? Not through any fault of ours, but we have to bail you out because of your mistakes! Dont see us bloody rioting, do you?
