Arsenal 1 - 0 Queens Park Rangers: van Persie strike wins it
I had it all written up, but then accidentally deleted it.
So unfortunately (or fortunately), you'll just have to have player ratings this time.
Wojciech Szczesny - 7. Solid performance between the sticks, making a couple of good saves and commanding his area well.
Per Mertesacker - 7. Good, solid showing.
Luarent Koscielny - 7. Very good display. Has had an excellent 2011.
Johan Djourou - 6. Did well, but was beaten down that side one too many times.
Thomas Vermalene - 6. Was seldom tested. Out for two-three weeks.
Alex Song - 6.
Mikel Arteta - 7. Was class in the centre of the park.
Aaron Ramsey - 6. Not really that effective, though should've had an assist to his name.
Theo Walcott - 5. One of his worst performances this season. Just wasn't invovled and missed two good opportunities.
Andrey Arshavin - 6. Was anonymous but provided an assist, at least.
Robin van Persie - 7. Showed some excellent touches and skills, but the record must have been playing on his mind still since he wasn't particular sharp in front of goal. Scored the winner, though.
-------------------
Francis Coquelin - 7. Did well at left back.
Tomas Rosicky - n/a.
Gervinho - 5. Did one good thing when he dribbled inside and had his shot block, but afterwards missed two golden chances.

For the 1st time this season, we didn't bottle it when rival slipped, despite playing like Braveheart, very proud of the team.
We did alright except in front of goal, Theo and Arshavin played a game to forget. RVP clumsy like Heskey he might be, still got that important goal, now that record nonsense is over, he will be back to his old form. Our midfield is usual business but we sure could use some creativity and mobility from Jack now. The defense was great, best thing in this game, would look silly praising the boss now but Kozz is MOTM for me, Mert is not far behind, he got some crucial interception. Chesny is super wealthy man's De Gea.
Anyways Happy new year to all Arsenal fans, couldn't ask for a better gift than this win.

Re: Arsenal 1 - 0 Queens Park Rangers: van Persie strike wins it
rvp just one away from tying the record
walcott was piss poor, made us look silly for selling traore today. WHERE IS ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN?!?!?!?!?!? he can get ONE game on RW surely
and coquelin can do everything, huh?

Wenger tells BBC Sport Vermaelen is out for "two or three weeks". Confirms he's trying to sign a defender but only on loan
Re: Arsenal 1 - 0 Queens Park Rangers: van Persie strike wins it
Wenger says Henry won't be signed in time to face Fulham on Monday but is on track to feature vs Leeds on 9 Jan
Re: Arsenal 1 - 0 Queens Park Rangers: van Persie strike wins it
Leeds it is! ... no better time imo than help us get a comfy win in FA cup.

Great to see Gervinho nutmeg that scum Joey Barton even if his decision making turned out to be poor. Walcott was humiliating and Arshavin was stale.
Whatevs. 4th place at the turn of the year :lucas:

Considering Arshavin assisted the goal, would have scored if not for a brilliant block, and was tightly marked the whole game and had to deal with QPR's best player on the day IMO (Luke Young), I really don't think he was that bad.aleumdance wrote: arshavin should run away from north london, and never come back,..

Gervinho playing the part of dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde tonight. Created so much space and time but was let down by his decision making. Twice i counted dead cert situations where he should've scored.
The amount of times i was screaming SHOOOOOOOT!!!! at the TV were astronomical

Still not happy that we cant even score goals at the emirates. Apart from rvp no one is clinical. Thats really bad

I dont know if I'm happier with the win or Man Utd, Chelsea and Spuds all dropping points.
Re: Arsenal 1 - 0 Queens Park Rangers: van Persie strike wins it
Podolski and a full back are needed. Make it happen Arsene...
Re: Arsenal 1 - 0 Queens Park Rangers: van Persie strike wins it
I messed up and lost the write-up, so you just have player ratings tonight. Sorry.

Walcott's was the biggest miss I've seen by any Gunner this year, including all of Gervinho's failed tap-ins and roundings of the goalie.

Meanwhile on twitter..

No way, Gerv's open goal miss against Chelsea 3 minutes in was even worse. He basically went out of his way to kick the ball around the goal rather than into itMJGunner wrote:Walcott's was the biggest miss I've seen by any Gunner this year, including all of Gervinho's failed tap-ins and roundings of the goalie.

But but...he was one on one...and he didn't even test the goal keeper. I can understand if it were close or if he tried to round him, but no, this was too much for me. Gervinho had a cross beamed at him that he missed but I expect that from him because I still haven't figured out what strange powers and weaknesses that massive forehead seems to be giving him.
