Bethesda vs. BioWare

I, personally, prefer BioWare because their stories are just way better and I find it more enjoyable to play a game with a great storyline and good gameplay than vice versa.

BioWare games are border-line RPG .... Bethesda stays true to its core . Anyway I enjoyed all of those games ... and I hope that both Bioware and Bethesda continue the same way without changing anything .

even though im a big fan of Fallout and Skyrim(dont really like the other elder scrolls),Bioware is better for me by the Mass Effect series alone,ME1 and 2 were great,specially the plots.Heck,i kept thinking about the characters even when i wasnt playing.

Didn't / don't like Fall out 3 gonna give it another try one day.

but Mass Effect series is just sooooooooooo badass, and Dragon age is meh not great.

Not that it's bad thing. The moment they step out of it, a mess Dragon Age 2 was born, their attempt of mature writing is laughable. BIOWARE games are all polished, gameplay is amazing (I still play Mass Effect 2 due to its amazing combat system), the characters are memorable, storyline is solid but cheesy to the max. Bethesda stuffs are true adventure, storyline is great especially w/o guide or walk-through but combat is simple & bugged like hell. BIOWARE strength is Bethesda weakness & vice versa, the day they merge, RPG genre will be complete.

Hmm. Hard choice. Back in the day, I ate up the KOTOR games, beating them all multiple times. Might be because I'm a SW geek, but I loved those games. Mass Effect was also pretty amazing. Dragon Age:Origins is one of the best RPGs I've played.

Bioware games seem to be more "rails on", which results in limited freedom but more coherency in the story, deeper characters etc.

These past few years I've played more Bethesda games, simply because more have been available. I've loved Fallout since the first once so I naturally ate up F3 and F:NV. Let me tell you though: most Bethesda games unmodded are a huge mess, as in Oblivion with that shitty leveling system or the usual slew of bugs most games carry. With mods, they become awesome games.

Basically, it depends on what sort of mood I'm in. Can't wait till they mod Skyrim.

didnt like fallout3 at all, i thought i was a really poor game, although after skyrim Bethesda has, in my eyes, surpassed the standard set by oblivion and is an absolute GOAT

Dragon Age Origins is probably the best RPG game I’ve ever played.
Story, depth, characters and interaction with the events based on choices made it almost as fun as reading a good novel.
Skyrim (the only Bethesda game I’ve played) is leaps and bounds better in the graphics department and the realism but I do not feel as attached to the plot.

It should be noted that I enjoy the synergies of playing a party instead of a single character so DAO gets one more point for me.

Agree with Twoism in that if they merged RPGs everywhere would be perfect. I'm very into literature so an attractive storyline appeals to me a bit more.

I loved Fallout because the freedom was ridiculous and everyone loves post-apocalyptic scenarios even if it was ridiculously bugged.

And I loved Mass Effect because the choices you make have direct consequences and I like how they've carried that through to the sequel and probably to the third.

Even if the storylines are cheesy, it's better than the stale plot of New Vegas.

as much as i loved skyrim, i like bioware games more...

If Stalker had the scale of Fallout it would be a GOAT. Definitely one of the most underrated games out there.

I am not a Star Wars fan either, but Knights of the old republic is their greatest game and one of the best RPG's ever made.

Bioware will not get back to traditional RPG though, they've streamline the shit out of last two games, most of games do, even Skyrim & the Witcher. Inventory management could be huge pain in the ass for console users. Even bioware made fun of it when Shepard said " not like the old day, when everything turn to omi gel"

Unless they pull out resource somewhere, The Old Republic will be their main attraction from now on, DA & ME will be concluded next year.

Rage is a massive piece of crap, Fallout has got to be the most overrate franchise in existence.... Without Skyrim and Morrowind they would be a nothing studio......

Bioware meanwhile has Baldurs Gate, Jade Empire, Star Wars:KOTR, Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

The awful character build up system is enough to turn anyone away tbh.

On my list of my favourite games ever, both of these companies feature several times. They are easily my favourite two game producing studios. In terms of which one has produced the most games I've enjoyed, BioWare takes it, but the epicness of the Elder Scrolls games is just impossible for me to ignore. I'm going to call it a draw just because I can't bring myself to choose.

Props to Mole for mentioning Jade Empire btw. One of the most underrated games ever made
