After last season 30M, sure.
Right now, cut that figure in half just due to that injury it is always going to be a risk.

Oh right of course, you mean currently due to his injury. I completely agree with you. My misunderstanding, I thought you meant in general, including previous seasons.

Rossi was never worth 30 mil if you ask me, hardly 20.. just today's market is so inflated.

Have you considered he plays in La Liga? In a league that is easy to score in? First off, he's not proven in Italian football, so bringing a player for that much to be RELIED on scoring is none sense all in all. I am always curious how you guys figure that La liga is easy to score in, by all means, if you guys can ever put forward a well thought, rational and objective argument about why it's easy to score in La Liga, i am all ears.

Meanwhile, have you ever considered the fact teams in la liga enjoy playing attacking and attractive football, thus spend time developing the attacking game and the end product of their attacks? Didnt you guys play Betis in the summer and got bamboozled by how well they were moving the ball and creating space? No seriously, im dying to hear that argument, unless it turns into "my team beat you lalalalala..."

Also, that argument about him not being "tested" in Serie A is a bit of a ridiculous one. Dont take offense, it has a little bit of relevance, but when you talk about world class talent, that argument goes to the gutter. I didnt hear that last summer when Aguero was announced to Juventus, certainly, the ex new ADP was not tested but it never bothered you to suggest that your management should inject some 45M to get him.

It takes little analysis to note that Higuain is in fact a player that would excel in Serie A. He is a player that excels at finishing movements, he can do a lot more, but in terms of how well he tactically reads the game, his ability to make runs and to consistently find space, on top of his finishing, he is superb. Serie A is a very tactical league, and he will fit just like a glove, because he is a cerebral forward with excellent movements off the ball and he has the right kind of selfishness int he box to bury chances.

As far as your "he has Ronaldo, Kaka, Alonso to support him" argument goes, another example of double standard from you. Last summer, you were happy to claim that Rossi carried Villarreal, you shrugged of the arguments that Villarreal was carried by the symbiosis of their midfield, the magic square of Cazorla, Borja, Cani and Bruno. Why dont you do the same here? Oh and if it's easier to score in La liga, why even rate Rossi so highly? Oh right, he is Italian...

On top of it, Alonso has a very low assist record with us, Ronaldo is famously selfish, and Kaka only started being relevant this year. Not to mention that Higuain started his rocking form for us in 2008, when none of those big names were around, and only stopped because of injury last year. Well this season, he just picked it up like he used to. Are you honestly saying that between Pirlo, marchisio, vidal, and your two wingers, you wouldnt be able to feed 30 goals a season to HIguain? that's very demeaning for your own team.

His age? We can do better with younger and someone already proven in Serie A.
Younger and proven in Serie A? like who?

I'd also like to add that if Higuains goals are no good because they are scored "in such an easy league" then the same goes for Rossi as well. And Higuain is far superior on the international stage.

What a great post Nick. +1

I completely agree with you here - I dont believe in this "La Liga is league with crap defense thats why its easier to score BS" as well as the "need to get a striker proven in Seria A" BS. Some of the best/most successful Seria A strikers WERENT proven in Seria A before they can to Italy

Camurrìa.Sto.Stronzo wrote:

This is the ultimate facepalm of all facepalms - not wanting Higuain because you want someone younger and proven in seria A? and then saying they prefer Rossi?

Rossi played 2 seasons as a youth for Parma, not in Seria A AND hes 10 months OLDER than Higuain
  No clue whatsoever

Please check out facts Rossi played 19 serie matches on loan at parma scoring 9 goals hence proven

As for all the age BS no one in my opinion is old if they are under 35

OK that was my mistake - i forgot his half season loan with Parma from Jan to July 2007.

Does scoring 9 goals in Serie A in half a season means hes a "Serie A proven" striker??? :brickwall:

Which "Serie A proven" forwards are there on the market right now?? and any better than Higuain?? I can think of any..

Im just saying Rossi IS proven even in serie A

I really dont care if anyone is proven in serie A, Higuain would be a dream to me but also much likely to stay a dream cause the Juve post c.poli still havent had real intentions on splashing 30 mil euros on one player

Im sorry, 9 goals in serie A 5 years ago with Parma does not convince me hes proven in Seria A at all.

But honestly speaking, the "proven in Serie A" is just a BS point.

We just need a class player. Higuain is a dream that wont come true.

The lack of a big class purchase has a little to do with the clubs poor form and some piss-poor management and player acquisitions and money wasting by some of our managers and directors.

Marotta still hasnt convinced me that he is the guy that will lead Juve back to their pre-calciopoli levels but thats another argument for another day..

Younger and proven in Serie A? like who?

St_Nick I enjoyed your post. It was a well thought out statement . Allow me to tell you a little about myself , I am Italian , I am juventino it will always be this way !From the womb to the tomb! With this being said I am a firm believer in candor. So i will never tell you that because its not italy or a juve its worthless.

A striker YOUNGER and proven in seria A superior to Higuain does not exist!I am very confident that our midfield can supply him with plenty of goals( I like where your going with 30 but this is seria A , and i dont believe hes done 30 in spain in one season ,but we will get to that in a moment)

Fantastic point on seria A tested players. If the only players in seria A were Seria A tested players there would be no teams. At best we would have a bunch primavera teams playing each other repeatedly. Can any juventino imagine telling Moggi not to buy Zidane and Trezeguet because they are not seria A tested ?????????? Luckily for football fans all players, not only world class players are able to play anywhere in the world . All leauges have there own style , and even more detailed is each coaches playing style . It is up to the player to adapt to his new enviroment.

I hope to calm your curiosity( with your help) you asked the question and then answered it yourself. All the teams in spain focus on attack and developing there attacking game meaning defence last ,Consideration taken! as where in italy it is the opposite . Example Zidane scored 13 more goals in spain then he did in italy with only 4 more appearances . We are talking about one of the best players to ever play the game. thank you for providing the well thought rational argument for us !
