Another Premiership Record
Thats just sick!!!
Second most passes completed in a game since opta started compiling stats.
96 behind Barca (938) vs Real Sociedad
Would love to see Yaya's stats for tonights game. He must have completed 200 by himself.

Re: Another Premiership Record
According to Opta Joe
924 - Man City's total of 924 passes v Stoke is the highest recorded by any team in any PL game since 2003-04. Domination.

Re: Another Premiership Record
Yep, Yaya was great tonight. HE assisted the first goal and for the third one he beasted the poor Stoke player off the ball and onto the ground so Johnson could shoot it. HE was out muscling Stoke all night, they looked scared of him, except for Huth of course.
Not to mention 93% passes completed which I didn't know until this thread. I was going to make a Yaya thread but it brings the haters out so I figured I would let it go and continue to let people think he's not one of the best players in the world.

Re: Another Premiership Record
I mean today is the perfect example of why I appreciate Yaya's game so much. On one hand he can go up against the vaunted physical Stoke City and the crazy pace of the EPL and push them around all over the field while completing 93% of his passes.
And then on the other hand you can put him in a Barca vs Valencia game and he is just as technical as all of the best technicians in the Spanish game while being able to bring his physicality to the table as well.
Or you can throw him in defense in the Champions League final against a Man U side with Ronaldo, Tevez and Rooney coming at him and he wont put a step wrong.
Such a great player.

Yaya had 175 touches on the ball last night (that's incredible), and completed 93% of his attempted passes. Wow.

Re: Another Premiership Record
I'd put all that talent in a blender and still get the same pass %.
But isn't Mancini primarily an attacking sort of manager (as he was a player) just that he adapted borefest tactics due to having 11 donkeys as players?

At Inter Mancini was physical/defensive more than anything putting 10 men behind the ball at sometimes, his game was similar to how city used to play in his first 2 seasons, and when he bought Yaya i personally assumed he's using him as a destroyer but it turned out he had other plans in mind.
