I think RG was onto something when he suggested the whole Ghana link with Elm. Geez.

I shall save myself the trauma of hunting for that post for you, please go and find it yourself...
TO ME, this has got nothing to do with which player or team it relates to. To a number of us in this thread, the discussion is about that word NOT being a racial slur. How do you keep missing this point?

Oh ya, this explains why he hates Suarez. The explanation for his abandonment of all reason however has not yet been revealed.
please show me PROOF that Suarez did not use the word "negrito"
if you can, I will back out of this thread....

Well i'm the only person in this thread that has suggested he speaks spanish fluently and that is from the same cultural region suarez is from and you refuse to respond to any of my posts.
If you really want to know about what he meant, why don't you simply ask me or look for information among the other Argentine or Uruguayan posters?

And you somehow have the magical power of reading Suarez's mind and figuring out his intentions? His background suddenly has nothing to do about it? You've clearly got an agenda against Suarez and most here can see it.

Diminutive in spanish is usually meant for endearment.
The literal meaning of the word would only counts if suarez was in a formal context, and he wasn't. It's rather obvious that he was using the coloquial form of the word that is nothing but a pet name.

how many years has Suarez spent in Europe to NOT know what things have racial implications and still be ignorant?

Re: Luis Suarez Banned for 8 Premier League Games
Growing up, my mother made sure My brother and I spent time in, America (New York) and Brazil (Rio De Janiero). I've always appreciated that opportunity to experience different cultures. In Portuguese we have a similar word to "negrito", it's neguinho if you're small and negao if you're big. I've heard my mom talk like this to beach vendors and she used the word friends growing up. I noticed in Brazil people are less caught up in what your skin color is.
My mom is your "typical Brazilian", very laid back and kind, but she'll speak her mind and some people don't like that. Some people aren't able to think outside the box and forget their opinions are just that. I always try to take other people feelings/thoughts into consideration, but there comes a point where this causes me to not be "myself". We have to allow others to express themselves without judging and labeling them, try to think about where they've come from and how they've been brought up.
Some of you are making Suarez into this racist and haven't really brought any proof to the table. What does that make you?
Here's a story I found on the web
(Question) Can you share an incident, misunderstanding or ‘culture shock‘ that you have experienced with a foreigner?
I will tell you two stories, one here in the U.S and one in Brazil. Let me start with the Brazilian story. I was teaching Portuguese to a group of Americans; I had no idea of the term African American, so I told one of the students (who was African American) that he would probably receive a nickname of "moreninho or neguinho" he was really insulted until I explained to him the real meaning of the term among the Brazilian people (the "high society" likes to "Americanize" things and see those terms with a negative connotation, but truly, among friends, it is more a way of showing affection, respect and love).
Take what you will from that story. Where I live Black's and Hispanic's call each other "nigga" on the regular (a word I think nobody should use). But don't let a white person say the word. Do you see the ignorance here, it's obvious that skin color still matters to these people. Why do these young kids and young adults continue to use such an ugly word?
elmystique, you claim that blacks are the most targeted, what led you to that conclusion? Better question, why does it even matter? I've heard that argument a lot growing up and I've always tried to show people both sides of the argument. I've actually been treated differently because of my skin color, it all depends where you are. I'll never understand why people feel the need to prove their race has dealt with the most racism. People need to get over this obsession and move on.
I think "America" has this obsession with racism and at times they even make you feel racist. I worked in Crocs and we always had to ask who was helping the customers, you wouldn't believe how many people were afraid to use the word "black" when describing my black coworkers. That right there says a lot to me; I don't even know if these people were racist and yet they still felt awkward.
My main issue is the lack of proof and you're never going to be able to enter the mind of Luiz Suarez, you can't tell me you know what his intentions were. Some of the comments here were quite shocking, but I won't judge and or point fingers at anyone; I'm merely hear to give my opinion on the matter.

Re: Luis Suarez Banned for 8 Premier League Games
I think i am convinced, just like Evra, that Suarez was not being racist.
Does Negrito mean little black man literally? Yes.
Did Suarez mean that when he called Evra Negrito? I doubt it. The reason for this conclusion is the posts by Nirgal and Honduran. Even if Suarez did know it is a racist slur in England, he could easily forget about it while playing and just said what came to him naturally. It happens to many people all the time.
The important point here is the doubt that people have whether Suarez had racist intentions. Surely, in such a case, the FA just cannot punish him.
In my personal opinion, as much as i think Suarez is an a**hole, i dont think he is racist or was racist towards Evra.

Liverpool should take North Korea's military to Manchester
At the end of the day Ferguson had it all planned out to kick Suarez outta english football and ruin his career and name....
He may have lost a small battle today, but he'll lose the war.
Henry will take them all to cleaners...Watch this space. Can see Ginosak on his knee crying and apologizing seconds before his death.

Henry will take them all to cleaners...Watch this space. Can see Ginosak on his knee crying and apologizing seconds before his death.
