So what are your thoughts on Coentrao on the right now?

I personally think this was his best game he's ever played thus far on the right.

Did crucial tackles but also could be blamed for one or two goals.

Overall did well, doesnt know how to attack from the right tho

He has definitely improved. Not basing it on last night, but the few games he played LB recently he was great.

Average. I think he would've had a much better time against Villa, which was probably what Mou was counting on.

He has limited positional awareness because he hasn't played at RB alot, I think that if he's given a good run he may just step it up...

Mou should give him more chances, then. I was includig pre-season the time I wrote this, but eh, I'll change it.

this was only his 2nd match at RB, but i think he was fantastic.

had many key tackles and clearances. did not aid the attack much but neither does arbeloa or lass and they have played there many more times. hes young and learning the position for RM so it will take some time, maybe by the end of the season we will see real improvement.

the coentrao transfer is finally starting to make sense

Arbeloa is more suited as a rb than Coentrao. Defensively did okay, was bit lost in attacking as he was always marked, and lost some of the balls. Hes more attacking oriented than Arbeloa, but in future Coentrao as rb and Marcelo as lb would totally own.

He was decent.

It kinda makes sence. Van Gaal did it all the time, having two different footed players on one flank (Robben-Lahm, Contento- Ribéry). One cuts in, the other opens up space.

The only problem I see is that Coentrao is left footed so he's not going to be defensively strong, although with hardworking Di Maria in front of him you can offset that.

Considering he played all of 45mins at RB before el clasico at this stage no and certainly not against Barcelona :facepalm:
