Racing Santander sack coach Hector Cuper
Primera Division side Racing Santander have terminated the contract of coach Hector Cuper.
Having been in charge of the Cantabrians for five months, the former Valencia and Inter boss has mutually agreed to end his stay at El Sardinero following a disappointing start to the season which has left the side bottom of the standings.
A statement on the club's official website read:
"Real Racing Club and coach Hector Cuper have agreed to end their working relationship. This mutual decision was taken during a meeting, in which the coach and the board discussed the team's current problems and agreed that the best solution would be for both parties to separate."
The 56 year-old coach, whose contact was to run until next summer, departs the club after having recorded only one win from 13 fixtures so far in the Primera Division campaign.
Racing Santander's next opponents are 12th placed Villarreal, who succumbed to a 2-1 loss to Malaga on Monday evening.
Cuper becomes the second coach to be dismissed in La Liga this season following the departure of Michael Laudrup from Mallorca.

Why did they even hire him? Imo he's en embarrassment. Should be coaching some relegation fodder, not a team with potential.Zealous wrote:Manzano is on borrowed time lol

He was coaching Racing so it was gonna be an improbable job to keep them from not sucking. Results never went his way and he got fired in the end. Nothing new for him really.

TBF he did a great job at Mallorca but his stints at Sevilla and Atleti seem to be total wastes.
His spat with Reyes (Atleti's best player IMO) has not helped especially since the fans are siding with Reyes. Couple that with Manzano's hard head and weak tactics and you've got a recipe for lulz.
Atleti need a proactive coach who is willing to actually take a gamble and change things up in how they play. Like you said they have potential but with clowns like Cerezo in charge that will never happen.

he is
finally someone who will take pathetico where they belong
on topic, although cuper is inarguably a has-been coach, racing have by quite some distance the worst squad in the league so can't really blame him for failing
