Reja rage: 'Penalty and red card'

Edy Reja raged at the referee after Lazio’s defeat to Juventus. “There was a clear penalty and Andrea Barzagli should’ve been sent off.”

The incident occurred in the first half, when Tommaso Rocchi’s chip over a beaten Gigi Buffon took a deflection off Barzagli’s hand to go off target.

“We were unlucky with the incidents, as there was a clear penalty on Rocchi’s shot and Barzagli should’ve been sent off,” said the Coach of the 1-0 result.

“Had that been spotted, it was a spot-kick and a straight red card, in my view. Unfortunately, it proved to be decisive. Maybe the referee just didn’t see it, but his decision was very disappointing.”

Simone Pepe snatched the only goal of the game on a classic counter-attack in this top of the table clash.

“We are satisfied with the performance and do not come out of this with our reputation damaged, because we fought on equal terms with Juve.

“It’s true we should have done something more, as we had the chances. It’s a shame we were too tired at the end to really mount an assault for the equaliser.

“Juventus played well and I think it can be their year, also considering they have no European commitments to worry about. We proved tonight that we deserve to be in the top spots and could even have won.”

Anyways, its the usual bs, attacking the referees when playing against Juve (and not winning).

Devi that was not unintetional hit, cant you see the twitch from his left hand so he "catch" the ball?
That is not natural postion of the hand at all, rules says natural postion, you know how all defenders keep their hand on their backs in the box when defending, this is why.

I didnt see the game nor did i see anything other then this gif, but from this gif i think reja is right about the penalty, not sure about the red.

Doesn't matter in the end though, it wasn't given.
You can see that Barzagli purposely moves his arm to the ball.

yes it was penalty...but really difficult to see...

Probably was a penalty but not even the commentators on espn seen it without a replay and didn't make much of it. The home fans didn't really call for it and no other Lazio player tried to claim one.

Not exactly a clear cut penalty by any means.

IT goes in slow motion for me so I didn't see it good but I wouldn't whistle that for Penalty and I haven't done that in my reff career

Based on that gif, Cro and Reja are right.
During the game the replay was shown, 4 or 5 times and without this gif I could not say it was a handball at all honestly, I could not tell.

And yes, it is true, Lazio also hit the post and had a bunch of chances. Juventus had a few chances to close the game though but they just could not finish.

Juventus need to be more clinical in front of goal!

It hit Buffon's glove then Barzagli, I saw the replay countless times. In that angle, you can't see Buffon tipping it.

Reja is 1/2 right

Red card....hell no (unless he was already on a yellow, then maybe but still meh)

occurred in the first 30 mins, hardly decisive...these things happen

It hit Buffon's glove then Barzagli, I saw the replay countless times. In that angle, you can't see Buffon tipping it.

Dude, he purposly touches the ball, you apperenlty are blind to obvious twitch of his hand to ball.

You cant see it, fine. Discussion ends.

Looking at it in real time though, impossible to tell and no fuss was really made about it during the game, which is why I overlooked it
