He and Troy Polamalu are about the same size (Ronaldo has more height, and Polamalu has more weight) and there is no question who the faster athlete is. Cristiano is actually freakishly fast for his size (overall height and weight), and he can do it all: quick bursts, high velocity, etc...

But im with Izzy, Martins takes it for me

I don't think Messi is that fast. Ronaldo, Walcott and Bale are much faster.

agbonlahor and lavezzi are super fast and not mentioned much cuz they have less control and awful shots...but still lighting

bale and Cronaldo especially are very fast if they want and control the ball mcuh better...Ronaldo can really pump it, sometimes I think he doesn't go full throttle when he can

messi easily fastest acceleration...short players are always like this. thats why he seems fast, because he starts and stops and slows down and speeds up very well with good control...but not as fast top speeds as those mentioned above

Gaby Agbonlahor has lost his speed since he bulked up massively much to Houllier dismay.

CR7 is nowhere near as fast as he used to be.

On the ball its Messi by a mile.

Off the ball is Theo and Abate.

Really? Abate? Well if Serie A fans know what I'm talking about they will understand in his headless chicken days he showed his pace and is UNBELIEVABLY fast.

But since his training under Allegri and Tassoti, he has been more conservative and uses it in short bursts.

Not anymore TBF, he lost a bit of his speed, he was a monster in the early 2000's, but he is a better footballer in these years

Ronaldo is the fastest soccer player alive, like it or not. I once read that hes only .75 or so of a second slower than Usain Bolt. Doumbia, Lennon, Walcott, and Elia all give him a run for his money tho. Krasic used to be insanely fast, but seems to have slowed down a bit. Podolski and Robben also are very fast, but dont use their speed as heavily as the others. Messi is not that fast, he just has insane acceleration.

I heard that Arjen Robben used to compete as a sprinter. I've read somewhere that CR7 is actually faster than him.

And I really don't know how can someone who's 1.69m tall be faster than someone who's 1.86m tall - taking into consideration the fact that their footwork is about the same speed.

Also, CR7 is built more like a sprinter, but yes, noone beats Messi at fast turns and changing lanes.
