Operation Madrid 2014 - Transfers Empty Operation Madrid 2014 - Transfers

Post by Onyx Tue Nov 15, 2011 2:06 pm

Arsenal's Wilshere, Lille's Eden Hazard, Borussia Dortmund's Mario Gotze, Barcelona's Rafinha Alcantara and Iker Muniain of Athletic Bilbao.

Spanish newspaper Marca published the shopping list of long-term potential signings under the headline 'Operation Madrid 2014', with Los Blancos clearly planning for the next batch of young stars to be brought in to complement the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The report claims Real's technical team would rather spend £30 million on the youngsters in the next two years than be quoted fees of more than £50 million when they are fully developed.

Rafinha is nowhere near the level of Gotze/Hazard atm and he simply won't come to Madrid.

Anyway, none of them are needed tbh.

mt probably creamed himself when he read we would try to sign a Barca youth product.

It's a cover story to sell papers. I'd be very surprised if it held any water.

I assume that in 2014 it's gonna be Neymar vs the world

Marca is so cheap, they only mention hyped up talents of course, Eriksen is probably the most talented young AM out there, and of course, marca has got no clue, lol

Foregt it, He's Basque playing for an all Basque team, getting starts and excelling, and he will be paid well. The good Basque players are not for sale. Bilbao doesn't operate that way. And they are building a very good young team - Llorente, J. Martinez, Muniain, Iraola, Aitor, Fernandez, Herrera.

Flo promised more Spanish players and it's his golden chance to get one. He is the most wanted player according to Marca, we haven't tried yet and I think we should atleast give it a chance.

I'm aware of Bilbao keeping players, but werent they close to selling Llorente to us?

Poll was Muniain 37.4%, Hazard 23.1%, Wilhere 18.7%, Gotze 14% and Rafinha 6.9%.

@Nick -word is Mou is fed up with Neymar and this poll was saying rather than spend all the money on Neymar, it's better to spend less on one of these.

we are going to sign Hazard, he wants us, and zidane has been talking about him for 3 years no, and he is quite sick on his own rights.

If Neymar does stay in Brazil till 2014, we will try to sign him then.

No we inquired (and some like me kept saying we should keep trying) but they said no way. We also inquired about J. Martinez.

Note- someone inquired the other day if Herrera was basque. Bilbao uses only Basque players - always have. The other Basque team, San Sebastian is not the same (and does sell players. e. g. Xabi Alonso)

Keep in mind where this poll / article is coming from. There is no way Bilbao will sell Muniain (it's the same situation with Llorente and J.Martinez) and this poll comes back to Hazard.

I personnally believe the story of Mou being fed up with Neymar, is Madrid's reaction to Santos' president and the new contract. I suspect it's all about price next summer. Although I am intriged about Hazard, I still suspect it's either Neymar or Hazard. I don't see how they both can fit in here, same goes for M'Vila. We can't have WC superstars as back-up for all positions.

Munain FTW.
But why spend on youngsters?
In 2014, Ozil will be 26, so will Khedira... Ramos 28, Ronaldo 29/30, Di Maria 26/27...

Even Casillas will be like 33, which is fine or a goalkeeper.

Sure, a few of these guys will be welcome, but it's not like we have an aging team.
Alonso's the only issue with Sahin already here to replace him

Munain would be nice, he is very good but still a bit raw. Since thats impossible, I still want Neymar but I guess Hazard will have to do. If we get Hazard and he succeeds, Nerman can GTFO as we will also have Pablito. Very Happy

I still think we get Neymar this summer.I think all this talk etc is just Santos trying to get the 55 or 60M and president trying to save face. Back-up plan is likely Hazard.

Question - if Neymar comes he pushes Di Maria to back-up role. Does Hazard play same position? Does he go to back-up role initially or who does he compete with?

As to this Marca survey, the only one of interest and available is Hazard and it's likely next summer not 2014.

If he came, which is looking increasingly unlikely, Neymar probably wouldnt walk into the first XI either. Id say he would take at least one year to completely adapt to our game in which he would only be in rotation.
