Spanish Press and Football Society
I remember few years ago in 2008, their press before Euro launched an attack on NTs and criticised/actually just talked trash about styles and tactics in a very arrogant.
They dont lose too often these days, arrogance is sky top if something goes wrong.
A big number of disgraceful players aswell, plus boring possession football, which is more defensive than catenaccio they hate and fear so much.
Time to slay the dragon. Let the hunt begin

"Spanish Press blast Italy and Rossi
Tuesday 16 June, 2009
In a quite sensational attack, Spanish newspaper AS has called Giuseppe Rossi 'a traitor' and believes Italy did not deserve to beat the USA.
The Azzurri won 3-1 after going behind late in the first half to a Landon Donovan penalty.
Rossi then came on and changed everything scoring Italy's first and third goal to secure victory.
The 22-year-old Villarreal striker was born in America and lived there until he was 14 when he moved to Italy.
“They play bad, they don't deserve it and they win. Where is the story?” AS wrote in vitriolic fashion.
They described the Azzurri's performance 'as pallid as the new official Italy shirt.'
Italy apparently won because they had 'other virtues' and practiced 'the other football.'
AS praised Rossi, saying: “Thanks to him, Italy played with 13 men.” However, they also called him 'a traitor' and 'the latest Italian trick.'
“Rossi was born in New Jersey, the son of Italian parents. He lived there for 14 years and he is now 22,” AS wrote.
“As a child, he played baseball. He is more American than any other thing.”
To finish, AS likened his goals to patricide, the act of killing one's father.
Its like every Spaniard goes to "Annoying Comments Class" in school. No wonder, spanish football society is a mess. Classless

I've yet to see any country's national press be balanced, humble and respectful or anything other than pot stirring hacks looking for a story and higher circulations ahead of all things.
It's hardly unique.

English press is always 100% humble and respectful, especially when talking about the German NT XDaunshi wrote:I've yet to see any country's national press be balanced, humble and respectful or anything other than pot stirring hacks looking for a story and higher circulations ahead of all things.

Depends on the tabloid. The BILD is extremely humble & respectful, too. Just like Sun, Daily Mirror and the like XDaunshi wrote:What's the German press like?

I seem to remember some extremely unflattering comments about Italy back in 2006, but to be honest, we kind of love reading it at the same time.
The trash talking of the press is only noticed when a team is on top, if Spain weren't on top at the moment, no one would really care.

True. Especially as the other teams are still pondering how to best avoid them in a tournament (1. choice) or how to defeat them (only if they can't be avoided XD)dostoevsky wrote:The trash talking of the press is only noticed when a team is on top, if Spain weren't on top at the moment, no one would really care.

Actually this was before we even played. Also, we robbed no one and if we did it was Australia. That being said, the game could still be going and Australia wouldn't have scored yet. It was amazing to beat you in Dortmund though, I must say.
Your tears move me however, forgive us?
It's fun for all the fans to be involved in these verbal jousts, however the press should stay out of it to a greater degree, particularly if a dialogue bursts out between the presses as a sort of proxy war.

Well, it was a really great match. I just wished it would have been the other way round with the goals XDdostoevsky wrote:Actually this was before we even played. In Germany BILD usually fights out hot pre-match proxy wars with the Sun (I think) whenever Germany and England meet.dostoevsky wrote:It's fun for all the fans to be involved in these verbal jousts, however the press should stay out of it to a greater degree, particularly if a dialogue bursts out between the presses as a sort of proxy war.
I wonder if it is the same with England / Spain, or is it just the fall out in the end where the Spanish press goes sulky if things don't turn their way?
