11-11-11 Marca has best 11 of all time

I don't know if any of you have seen the team chosen by marca.

They have
Iribar
Cafu Beckenbauer Maldini
Cruyff Zidane Xavi Maradona
Messi Di Stefano Pele

While I think both Iker and zubi were much better than Iribar, it's hard to argue with rest. There are many other names I can think of, this is not a bad selection.

Messi, Xavi. Didn't know Marca had it in them.

Iribar is an Athletic legend but best ever? Not too sure about that.

Never ever ever quite understood these all time team list. In all realistic thinking, Xavi, Maradona and Zidane would not have worked at all. Which person was gonna cover for Cafu's awesome runs and I haven't even started talking about Cruijff. And Di Stefano and Messi on the same team? Hehe, all those players who demanded to be the centre of the creative and attacking play.

And what's with the legendary Athletic keeper?

Doc, when they name a team like this, there is no intention of playing together, just the best at their positions. Like I said earlier, other than Potrero, it's hard to disagree.

These things are always tricky. With my limited experience, I would take out Messi (how can one be in these lists at 24 years old, however good you are), add a DM or another CB, have a midfield of Zidane Maradona Cruyff/Xavi, and add the brazilian Ronaldo.

I know, I just feel it should have the intention of playing together or have a realistic viewing to it. Also, are defensive midfielders or midfielders that aren't attack minded not part of Marca's all time list? Strange how it is all about attacking when it comes to this. Also strange to see Zidane ahead of Platini, must be a Real Madrid thing...

If Messi is already up there then longevity obviously wasn't a factor... Messi is yet to surpass the heights R9 reached...

If Xavi's 3 good years made it in, where's Dinho? A true Barca legend.

xavi, cryuff and messi shouldnt be on that team...their places should go to platini, lothar matheus and ronaldo(the brazillian one)

Perfect team for the two last decades !!

IMO, we can't make the best 11 in history coz world football has known many talented players and it doen't stop to deliver many of them. There was players who made history but also some stars who hadn't that chance.

People tend not to look at Laudrup's years in Serie A in this forum.

Pirri is vastly underrated in the football world imo
