Comparison of the leagues with respect to the goals scored

I did this comparison of the leagues for another thread, but I thought it might be interesting in general. I took out the highest scoring teams and then calculated the score average of the remaining teams.

Premier League (11 matchdays):

1. ManCity [1.]: 39:10
2. ManUtd [2.]: 28:12
Average of all other teams: 14.4 : 16.9

La Liga (11 matchdays)

1. Real [1.]: 39:7
2. Barca [2.]: 34:6
Average of all other teams: 14.4 : 14.8

Bundesliga (12 matchdays)

1. Bayern [1.]: 32:4
2. Dortmund [2.]: 26:9
Average of all other teams: 16.0 : 18.8

Serie A (9-10 matches played)

1. AC Milan [3.]: 23:14
2. Lazio [2.]: 16:7
Average of all other teams: 11.1 : 12.1

BTW, it is interesting that the average of the EPL (3-20. place) is identical with that of La Liga. Over all, the BL is obviously the highest scoring league, if you take out the score leaders. In Italy, it is interesting that the 1st place side Udinese only scored 13:4 goals. You could say they were really effective. ^^

Maybe a simple goals-per-game ratio would be even better, since the number of games doesn't affect that one while it does affect this one


But I'm in the belief that Bundesliga is usually the highest-scoring league of these four.

2. ManUtd [2.]: 2.5 : 1.1
Average of all other teams: 1.3 : 1.5

La Liga (11 matchdays)

1. Real [1.]: 3.5 : 0.6
2. Barca [2.]: 3.1 : 0.5
Average of all other teams: 1.3 : 1.3

Bundesliga (12 matchdays)

1. Bayern [1.]: 2.7 : 0.3
2. Dortmund [2.]: 2.2 : 0.75
Average of all other teams: 1.3 : 1.6

Serie A (9-10 matches played)

1. AC Milan [3.]: 2.3 : 1.4
2. Lazio [2.]: 1.6 : 0.7
Average of all other teams: 1.1 : 1.2

Looks like it is actually more a matter of the 2nd number behind the comma, but for that I would have had to add up everything again, and frankly I was a bit too lazy for that
