Amazing player. His career is a testament to everything that is good and noble about football.
Amazing, we should all have his babies or something to pass his genes on

To think he worked three jobs and played football on the side as a 19 year old.

I am an Interista, but I respect Abate. He is a hard worker and he is improving his touch on the ball. He may become a very good national team player by the time the WC occurs.

I'd still have maldini running around if u ask me. He was as good as zanetti in his final year. There's something in the water in Italy ...

You're mistaking water for sweat.
Zanetti and Maldini are pure examples of dedication and taking care of yourself through professionalism and hard work.

Del Piero is a striker...
Strikers peak at 22-30
Defenders peak at 26-34
You do the math.
So with the correct calculations it would seem that Del Piero actually DOES drink that water. He won top scorer in Serie B at the age of 31 and top scorer in Serie A the next year at the age of 32.
So, just for fun, you might say that Del Piero was a world class defender at the age of 36.
Sounds like "that" water to me...

Re: Zanetti is the best RB in the world
Javier Zanetti – The pass master
Minutes played 3147
Attempted passes 1956
Completed passes 1823
Pass-completion rate 93.2 percent
He's more known for his tireless effort and long runs down-field, but Javier Zanetti was also last year’s best passer in Serie A. His 93.2 percent pass-completion rate ranks with some of the best in Europe. He may not have the same range of passing as Barcelona’s Xavi Hernandez or Andres Iniesta, but he isn’t just making the simple passes.
Zanetti also led Serie A in most completed passes in the opposition end of the field, with 1093, ahead of players such as Wesley Sneijder, Riccardo Montolivo and Marek Hamsik.
He turned 38 in August, and will probably start seeing less time under new coach Gian Piero Gasperini, but the quality is still there.
Serie A Pass Completion Leaders
1. Javier Zanetti (Inter) 93.2 percent
2. Thiago Silva (Milan) 91.8 percent
3. Matuzalem (Lazio) 91.7 percent
4. Esteban Cambiasso (Inter) 90.1 percent
5. Thiago Motta (Inter) 90.1 percent
(don't agree that he "isn’t just making the simple passes", they pretty much are always simple passes. but apart from that it's impressive)
