Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket - World Cup 2019 Special
For bowlers, at least, they look stacked. Cummins, Pattinson and Coulter-Nile look like really promising fast bowlers. Not sure about their batsmen, though.
I did think during the Ashes that their team would enter transition, soon. Makes the return series in Australia very interesting.

Yeah, it's not so much about a lack of names as much as the question of quality.
There's Shaun Marsh, Usman Kawaja, Joe Burns who have been in and around the test side before. Always felt Aaron Finch could make the step up to test cricket, but the selectors doesn't seem to think that way. Then there's also the possibility of turning Maxwell into a test player.

Wicketkeeper spot is sorted out with Nevill and Wade fighting for it. Satisfied with both of them.

Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket - World Cup 2019 Special
Maxwell and Finch
Finch has a genuine problem against the in swinging ball.Imo I bet he'd struggle a lot when facing the new ball.I really don't rate him that highly.
Maxwell is a T20 player who lacks the temperament as well as the technique for the longer version of the game.
If Australia turn to these two players, then there would've to be some serious lack of quality batsmen in their domestic setup.
Ofcourse it's too early to make a judgement but as we stand, there's no clear #1 in test cricket.
If only England replicate their dominant domestic performances away from home too, test cricket is going to be very competitive in the coming yrs.

Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket - World Cup 2019 Special
We're going to Dubai to play Pakistan in October/November then we're touring South Africa over the winter months. Doesn't get much tougher than that for us.
England have problems with their top order (need a partner for Cook and a permanent no. 3) and a flimsy middle order (of the "hit hard or hit out" variety; Root is the only one you can count on to score runs). The bowling attack is coming along well enough but there's huge doubts over their ability to perform when the ball isn't swinging. A lot of these guys are young, though.
Test cricket will probably be competitive since most of the sides don't seem to have quality throughout their whole eleven. Whether or not it'll be good cricket is another matter.

Match is over mate. Warne's Warriors beat Sachin's Blasters by 6 wickets.
Warney got 3 wickets including Tendulkar, Lara and Laxman.
Match Was really fun with the whole atmosphere, freindly banter and all in a baseball stadium in New York.
2 more games to go. 12th and 15th i think.

What a great game between Australia and NZ!
Hopefully either team push on to get a win rather than play out a dour draw.

Good point on Finch, that's probably the only reason selectors doesn't go with him. Although right before this current test series against NZ, he was in the running with some fine knocks in first class cricket. That's basically why I think if he can get himself through to 20 runs he can go on and score huge. He has always done that in ODIs and domestic first class cricket, I know it's a different ball game in test cricket, but the quality is there with him.S wrote:Maxwell and Finch

re: Maxwell. I can only remind you of David Warner. Remember what they said about him 6 years ago? Exactly!

That can be said to any test team as well, especially SA and Aus.
What this past few years has taught us is that every single test side is utter shit away from home. Unless you're touring West Indies or Zimbabwe. I mean, look at what Bangledash did to SA.
Fresh after their recent Ashes victory, if England were to tour Australia now they will lose!

That's kinda why I lost interest in cricket. First of all they made it awfully one-sided by making shitty power play rules also there is no clear cut best team right now. Everybody keeps losing away no matter how gud their team is. Look at what India is doing to SA right now.

Pranav Dhanawade, A 15-year-old in India has smashed the world record for a single innings in school cricket, hammering his way to 1,009 runs.
