Taken from FIFA12, where Messi decided mid season he would like to leave...

Now if I wasnt suicidal after that and Pique injured for 10 months 2 games into the season, then you can imagine how I felt after the board went under my nose and sold Messi to Madrid for 80m. This despite me ignoring their 120m bid a day earlier.


Anyway, I am tasked with 1 day left in the Jan transfer window and having to replace him both in the team and squad.

Lets imagine real life here and Messi decided to leave. What should we do?

Who would we buy? How would the best 11 look like? Should we sign someone to replace him? Let Cesc take his special role?

Buy Aguero and Hulk

Buy the best player in the world, Ronaldo

I would put a bullet in my head (restart the game).

1) Try and get hazard, he can replace messi in the game.

2) Play Pedro on the left, Villa centre and Sanchez left till summer. It will defo work.

3) Try Cesc in the middle with Villa n Sanchez on either side.

Get Aguero. Closest thing you're likely to get to Messi, just that without 57 strength

I actually like playing with a target man or typical 9 in FIFA, so you could also go in that direction.

Other interesting answers boys, but just like real life, without Messi the team lack penetration and I end up passing all game long.

If I do continue, I like RG´s idea of Hazard. Him or even Neymar in this game.

Was considering Aguero, but the times I have used him with City in the game I have struggled using him.

So far its Cesc in the middle and even more minutes for Thiago and even Keita and Dos Santos.

This happened to me I moved Villa back and the middle as a striker, & I rotated w/ Cesc & Thiago. But I had those two playing in a false 9 role. To replace Messi I bought Neymar.. worth the price. At least in the game.

In real life, if we don't have Messi we need to change the whole setup, because we currently depend on him. Go back to standard 4-3-3 and play Villa through the middle. Sanchez/Pedro on one side, then buy someone with a bit of creativity on the other flank. With the standard 4-3-3 we pretty much always had one creative player (Ronaldinho then Messi).

You could go with this quite easily...
