Alessio Tacchinardi has weighed in with his opinion on Juventus' announcement that Alessandro Del Piero will leave the club next summer.

The former Bianconeri midfielder spent several seasons in Turin with Del Piero, and backed up reports that he was once close to Milan and their owner.

This follows Adriano Galliani's declaration that the Rossoneri once had the option to sign the teenage Del Piero before he joined Juventus.

“There has always been empathy between Alex and [Silvio] Berlusconi, but I hope that Del Piero closes his experience in Italy with Juve and that he goes abroad. I could not see him in another shirt in Italy, abroad it would be different.”

Former midfielder Tacchinardi then reserved criticism for Andrea Agnelli's decision to reveal the news about Del Piero during a shareholders meeting on Tuesday.

Some reports are theorising that the club chose to announce the news during the meeting to deflect attention away from poor financial figures.

“I was amazed by Andrea Agnelli's behaviour towards a Bandiera like Del Piero. I have not heard from Alex, but I'm sure we will in the coming days.”
