Kutuzov '2001': 'Milan signed me during half time of a game'

Bari striker Vitali Kutuzov has revealed that he was signed by Milan during half-time of a game against BATE Borisov.

The two teams meet in the Champions League on Wednesday in a tie that brings back memories for the forward.

“It was September 2001 and my BATE Borisov were playing against Milan in the UEFA Cup,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“In the first half I impressed playing against Paolo Maldini.

“At the interval the BATE President received an offer from Milan and at the end of the game he told me that I had been sold to them.

“I put pen to paper on a five-year contract and my new salary was five times bigger than it was previously.”

The Belarus international went on to only feature in two competitive games for the Rossoneri, who then sent him out on loan to Sporting Lisbon and Avellino.

He also featured for Sampdoria, Parma and Pisa, before his 2009 switch to Bari.
