No, he wasn't "great" for 3 years, you throw the word around so much it lost its meaning, he was good for two years, and great in the last. Similarly with Bayren, he was meh one year and great the next.
So what you are saying, is that you think he IS a Tier 1 player, and in which case you are not just over-hyping for the sake of over-hyping but you are believing all this hype. Seriously, and all this without him having a big performance against a top European side.
@rwo, as in Silverware, not as in second place. The only gold trophy is the World Cup, and that is three years later.

Big team performance? Remember Bayern vs. Manu first leg? Watch how the second goal was created by a substitute... 2-1

Re: Mario Gomez 2nd best player in the world apparently
If you unlock the door to get Gomez into Tier one before this season ends, then you will have to put in all the rest of them. Cavani, Higuain, Benzema. (I think Gomez is the best of them)
I think it is prudent to wait this season before you start unlocking unnecessary doors. The definition of Tier on is that people would not hesitate to put him there. And since there are obviously doubters, then until he proves the doubters wrong. He can't be considered Tier one.
If you put him in, the whole balance gets thrown off.

Well, if he scores against Napoli and then against City, maybe another few once we qualify CL group stages... can't really doubt the quality there, I'd say.

You point now is that Rooney has been great all season, I though he had a terrible season after he got injured against Bayern.
Gomez has had better season than Rooney over the last five years, his worst season came under Van Gaal and he was injured most of the season...

Gomez had a great season last year, Rooney have been doing it longer. Which is why I think Rooney edges now. If they bot h continue their current trends. Gomez will be ahead. Pure and simple, this is a time issue, you can't collapse the boy's whole career and judge it by one or two seasons, just as I said he was not shit during his first year at bayern because I saw him in Stuttgart.
He is maturing, improved his defense and improved his overall play. He is becoming like Klose is with Germany but is even more lethal. Yet, we don't know if the trend will continue or not. Which is why time should be the judge.
@jibers, form is temporary, class is eternal. Gomez is proved he can have a lethal form, this season is where he proves he has class.

And now You have seen the light, If I could remember few month ago some people still have that myth that Gomez was a slow players because his big.
Does anyone of them care to know that Gomez can also play on the wings.
I mean most people here haven't be following Gomez lets say for like ever and then think now that he has caught their attention thats when his become good, no that is simply not the case, Gomez has been good ever since, Thats why Bayern paid over 30million for him 2009.
He does not only score tap in, thats another myth.
He doesn't drop deep, yet another myth.
He can not dribble, another myth.
can not bring other players into play, another myth.
Myth myth myth, absolutely based on assumption or should I say lack of research
Gomez was a tier 1 player since his Stuttgart days.

Rooney 126 league goals in 291 appearance since 2002.

You can't get it don't you, My point is that over the past 5 years, season after season, Gomez has been performing.
He didn't just start performing last season
Do you want me to compare Gomez stats with Rooney stats over the last 5 season, season after season, You will be very surprise that Gomez have had better season over the last 5 years

So I am butthurt because Gomez is being hyped. Why the *bleep* would I care. I am constantly saying how great he *bleep* is last year. And yet you are the one who seems fixated on hyping the guy.
I said the same thing to Milan fans hyping Pato, to Juve fans hyping Marchisio, to Arsenal fans hyping RVP and would say it to Bayern fans hyping Gomez. One year is not enough. I am saying he IS the greatest of the bunch of players knocking the door of greatness, but he is not there yet. If you were confident of his abilities you would just wait a year to see how the season treats him.
You wouldn't even have to come to me because I will most likely be the one to congratulate him. Why would I get butthurt at watching a great player play. You are stupid at saying that I am butthurt when none of my posts indicated such.

Rooney 126 league goals in 291 appearance since 2002.
Again for you, check wikipedia, espn or any other source. Numbers don't lie, specially for strikers

So I am butthurt because Gomez is being hyped. Why the *bleep* would I care. I am constantly saying how great he *bleep* is last year. And yet you are the one who seems fixated on hyping the guy.

Do you want me to compare Gomez stats with Rooney stats over the last 5 season, season after season, You will be very surprise that Gomez has had better season over the last 5 years, season after season.
and International level

He was great for Stuttgart for 3 years but you only count the last one One example, after he left they collapsed They can't even reach anywhere near CL places anymore for 2nd yearLord Spencer wrote:But I never said Benz is WC, Gomes is miles better than Benz. And I know Gomez played great in his final year with Stuttgart. However, this is the year he can announce himself as a Tier 1 current player with both Bayren and Germany poised for silver.
If he does not show up, then he will not make the step up some claim he already is in. I think we both can agree he is not a current Tier 1 player.
You can't get don't you, My point is that over the past 5 years, season after season, Gomez has been performing
And yet the statistics I showed of both him and Rooney showed Rooney was being involved in more goals than him, and only did last Season Gomez catch up. Not to mention the statistics were raw and had nothing to account for Ronney's effect in the game especially with him being a withdrawn nine.
You can't get it that I am not saying Gomez is crap, but that you are simply making too big a deal out of him too early when he can do it for you without you having to say a word by having another great season. I am not a Rooney fan and I yet I give credit where credit is due, and I did and do say that Gomez is the forerunner to be even the in the next top 5 players.
It is funny that you can't get done by accepting the fact that Gomez needs to do it again to be considered a super star, which what all super stars need to do. Again, and again.

Why don't you post the assist stats, look a few pages back and you will see the stats. Rooney is an SS, and I did say goals involved in, which includes both Goals and assist.
Reading comprehension, learn to use it.

I already did that, few pages back, but only for club level. Gomez is yet to feature in any major tournament as a starter yet. Rooney sucked for England in 2010. And was decent in 2006.
