How do u rate Gary Neville

Just saw a ridiculous argument is Rb section that he was never a world class RB probably because he didnt have assists.Was he under rated as an average full back because of being defensive Rb rather than a flashy one like Alves.Or do u think he was just solid player nothing more.


I think he is probably the best RB of Premier League in last 20 years and one of the best RB of last 20 years atleast at club level.Certainly world class player for most of his career at the least.


How do u rate Gary Neville? Also as a side question do u give more emphasis on the quality of full back based on attacking abilities or more on their defensive qualities?

Solid player nothing more actually.

Got rated world class because he played for Manu.

I thought he was a very good player in defense and going forward and pretty complete at RB, but not quite world class. He was one of the most passionate players for his club that i've seen though and maybe that's why many ManU fans overrate him. I also thought he was a massive asshole.

When it's a liverpool fan rating him, you know he's not half bad.

When you take into account his more than 600 games in a club like Man Utd, you know he's special.

But people started watching football only recently, so the best RB for them are Maicon/Alves

he wasn't the strongest fastest or most technical player, but he made up for it with positioning, intelligence, and work rate.... that is what made him great, in defensive positions intelligence and positioning are a lot more important then speed strength and technique

For a guy who thinks Zanetti isnt an elite level fullback ,Alves being miles better than Zambrotta and Neville aint being even close to world-class,you'd have to be extremely delusional to say that.

The fact that he's English automatically doesnt make him World-Class according to some of them.

Definitely would give emphasis on the latter.I'd rather choose a fullback who can defend properly first and foremost and who's fairly capable of attacking as well.

no no relax i wasnt comparing the 2, i was using bendtner in reference to other players i heard being called world class on this forum.

neville is def a lot better than bendtner.

but neville wasnt wc.

sorry but when i think of world class i think of players like baggio,zidane,cannavaro,maldini, thuram, cr7, messi players of that kind of calibre.

people on here call players that are just simply good and solid world class.

when a term like that should simply be used for really great talented players.
