CONMEBOL Qualifiers

People who have been in the UK during the recent past have to quarantine for 2 weeks if they go to Brazil.

Apparenly (following Conmebol guidelines) Emi Martinez, Buendia, Lo Celso and Romero did not do this, and now match officials have interrupted the ongoing match to force the players into quarantine. Only in Conmebol

We should walk out and forfeit rather than put up with this. If they had an issue with this it should've happened before the match.

So just for context, Argentina players have been there for days, immigration officials only figured this out 2 hours before the match.

CBF and Conmebol also allegedly approved this, but immigration did not.

To add to the drama, apparently police tried to intervene before the match, but Argentina players just locked the doors to the changing room and ignored them.

Not excusing the 4 players lying on their entry to the country, which obviously shouldn't have happened.

Wonder how this will turn out. Would be hilarious if they get detained or banned from the country.

Also, can we take a second to appreciate that the only 3 countries that are forced to quarantine in Brazil are South Africa, India and the UK?

Well either way I don't see PL players starting for Brazil tbh, so yeah those players should not started so I actually blame Argentina for blatantly ignoring the rules and starting those players who have travelled from the UK etc. If you are travelling to a foreign country, the least you can do is know what their rules are, you can't expect to be baby sit for every single moment, why aren't the Argentine players quarantine as per rules? Why does Brazil who is already in peril with Covid need to check on an International team to follow basic rules?

According to the rumor mill, the AFA did check with the CBF and local authorities who allegedly green lit the arrival of the 4 players. But clearly this is an incomplete picture.

Totally agreed the 4 players are at fault here.

Find it extremely hard to believe they greenlit those players other than anything than entering the country considering 7-8 players of Brazil didn't even make the squad who play in the PL right now and would start for Brazil but I would actually blame the Argentine staff first before the players BC regardless if Brazil still messed up.

The 4 players who broke the rules should have been removed from the squad. So the Argentine team is guilty in the first place.

Brazil is responsible for making this nasty drama and costing their team 3 points. I read a report yesterday that says Brazil is investigating this issue and that the four players might not be able to play. So all parties were aware of these issues for the last 3 days. Its just that none took action till the last moment. Argentina probably thought they can get away with it. what was the thinking of Brazil, to insult Argentine team ? probably

I think FIFA will wait for both countries to qualify, and then reduct points from Brazil. That's the FIFA's sleazy way doing it correctly.

Reportedly Conmebol is considering having Brazil play their remaining home matches at a neutral site.
