Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Kim Källström is a bit of a free-kick expert, something Arsenal notoriously lack. Here's one v Holland: http://bit.ly/Mn6Mgz
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
please stop saying he is a freekick expert, he isnt, he scores the odd freekick every 100 games, he is an average signing. why has he only played 30 games in two years for cska?

Because he was saving himself for a special club.
But lets be real, if he can give us what Yossi did, we would come out a winner at the end.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Kallstrom has only been signed on loan for a few months to help us deal with our unexpected shortage of CMs. He is probably only intended to get a few games when nobody else can play. His signing has absolutely nothing to do with our striker issue or our 3-CB-problem. Would you guys have rather we not got anyone in at CM and risked playing people completely out of position? Or are you upset that we didn't sign a big name to do what is a minor job for us?
I absolutely agree that it's horseshit that we don't have a striker to show at the end of this window, but signing a meh player to do a job only a meh player is really required to do isn't bad in and of itself.

If Wenger could win the league with Giroud as his 1st choice striker it would be just as big an achievement.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
We're upset because while midfield has some minor injury setback it's a stacked position, nothing against Kallstorm and I know he will play few games at best. but there is this BIG HOLE in our forward lines that needed to be addressed, why cant Wenger does a Kallstorm for our striker? Mitroglu just signed for freaking Fulham whose name was favored by some gunners, Berbatov might go to Monaco on loan, just to name a few who made a move this window

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
The issue is that signing a striker on a permanent deal means you have to ensure him first team football otherwise he'll just leave six months later and the whole transfer becomes pointless.
Mitroglou isn't better than Giroud, in my view. He's better than Bendtner, but would Mitroglou want to come to sit on the bench for six months? Would he want to stick around the next season, when/if Arsenal sign a striker better than Giroud?
Chelsea are in the same boat. They could have maybe made a push for a striker this month, but are waiting in the summer to go for that big signing.
That's why we've been looking at loans but unfortunately, that's a limited market. Vucinic turned us down (reportedly), Madrid don't want to let Morata go, Lazio didn't want to let Klose go... it's really not easy, and these aren't things you can just chuck money at, either.
Arsenal definitely should have signed a striker in the summer (and they did try, less we forget), but January just isn't the right time to correct to mistake.

Berbatov was offered to us on a silver platter and we turned him down

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
man i would have signed Klose on 1.5 year permanent deal!!
far better option off the bench than Bendtner
rather him earn those wages
even if 35
but thats that

If Klose was brought in then Giroud would have been found out and Klose would have been starting.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
"Found out" about what? Everyone knows Giroud isn't the most clinical of strikers, including Wenger, but that's not the reason why he's in the team.
Klose is certainly clinical but that's enough to get in ahead of Giroud.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
lol, people still don't rate Giroud.
As much as I love Klose, it would be better for Arsenal not to have a 36 year old next season. That would hinder a move for a top striker.

We had a loan bid for Cisse (Papis) rejected earlier, apparently

Don't even think Cisse is a better option than Bendtner at this point.

He isn't. Probably nothing in it. Maybe his agent was just trying to stir up things

Would like to wish Frimpong all the best at Barnsley.
Don't think he was ever going to make it. But definitely good enough to play and make a name for himself elsewhere. Hope constant 1st team football matures him a bit too.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
you think if Wenger was planning on signing a striker this window no matter what, he's now making loan bids for Klose, Cisse, Kalou hours before the window closes?
Nobody even knows who comes up with these stories?!
