PES 2014

Just bought this game.
Played a couple games and it's not bad.

The shooting and the player changing is a bitch though.

I hope they improve the shooting, the goalkeepers, and the occasional lag in the next patch.

The shooting is God awful. God awful.

Can't even shoot the ball first time. The players are unresponsive as fck and why the fck do you need to press X twice to tackle and even then it still doesn't work.

Sounds like they over complicated it

Double tapping to make a tackle, unresponsive shooting? Sounds like the most frustrating game on the market.

Double tapping X to tackle has been there for a while.... i have got used to it.

I don't find it that unresponsive tbh.... shooting is bad i agree.

I must say i have hardly played it since GTA Online and 2K14 though

Oh without a doubt it was definitely rushed.... as if the publisher would allow that though.

Most fun sports game to play with friends but also one of the most boring games to play alone.

Just a tip for when playing with friends, set the settings of both teams to high motivation, high form, and superstar. The shooting will be amazing and the goalkeepers will be much more difficult to beat.

PES sales down by ~2 million compared to last year   



Next year is truly going to be make or break for the whole PES franchise.

this year is also better than last year to be fair

but they had to wait before to sell it, never selling an incomplete game (completed only during the months..) .. or at least considering it the sellers had to sell it at a lower price, otherwise many people are not encouraged to take it ... as it happened
I bought only PES and not FIFA for tradition, but I'm a special case

What Robes said.... its a better game than 2013, much better actually but it was rushed in many aspects and that will throw a lot of people off.

Hopefully that won't be the case for 2015, especially with it actually being on the new consoles this time.

Konami is fine. Thats not how they operate, its not like we are comparing them to EA or SE. Selling 1 million units is alone to get even.

For Konami to get a handful of licenses alone costs a lot of money. You need to sell more than a million to have the franchise profitable, especially at this day and age.

For me it seems Konami are walking on thin ice. I'd rather they skipped a year to work on a full, finished product because while a sub-par annual release brings some profit due to sales (short term), it will damage the reputation of PES (long term).

Anyone tried patch 1.07 yet? First time shooting (and shooting overall) has been improved.

The gameplay is brilliant right now. Its the most fun sports game to play with friends. However, its very boring to play alone though, the game modes are very bad compared to previous years. They took out a lot of things from the offline master league.

Konami started really badly with PES 2014 but now its spectacular. I have both PES and FIFA, and IMO, the gameplay in PES is miles ahead of FIFA after the updates that Konami released over the past few months. The great thing is that they are not stopping; there are more updates on the way. Here is the world cup DLC which will cost $12 but also another free patch and a different DLC will be released on the same day. I agree that PES has again grown over me as the time's passed by but nowhere near previous years. The game still has lots of problems, from poor goalkeepers and limited animations to weird AI farts from time to time (especially the defending). I can see that Konami have improved it a lot since release, but it still ain't enough.

FIFA this season has been a big miss for me. It just doesn't play like football and doesn't reward you if you play it like football. It is catered for a specific way of playing and I can't be bothered to play it like that.

Honestly, I don't see the problem with goalkeepers anymore after the update. Put the difficulty on superstar and you will find it difficult to score even in 1 on 1 chances.

I played on the highest difficulty the other day and beat Real Madrid with Newcastle its still far too easy.

I don't play it much because i have other games which keep me engaged for longer.

But i do go back to it now and again and while i stand by what i said in this thread in the past it clearly has issues and the thread bare game modes don't help its case what so ever.

The gameplay feels completely different after this new patch. The game is even better now. The link up play that this edition was missing is back and better than ever.

@Mole, I suggest you try the game now with the new update.

Its quite a big improvement tbh.... Shooting is far better, dribbling is better and overall its far more responsive especially on defense which is noticable when you play the computer on the hardest level.

Nowhere near as easy to dispatch them now, which should give me more enjoyment.

I can only imagine what they would look like on PS4 now they are getting to grips with Fox Engine.

I did not expect the fox engine to have that much potential. As you have mentioned, this is just the beginning. I would say it beats Fifa on gameplay but the game modes are still terrible.
