Real forgetting Raul
I read some report that claims Raul's goodbye match will be organised by Schalke, not Real. They are also retiring the number 7.
Top scorer of all time for Real, former captain, top scorer in CL.
Is this for real? If so,Schalke Real

Re: Real forgetting Raul
Regarding retiring numbers it's not allowed so that's that.
As for the good bye match I don't know any details, frankly I wasn't aware he was going to retire any time soon, just sort of assumed he's still doing his thing in Qatar.
Anyway a match between Madrid and Schalke would be very cool. Schalke have my respect they treated Raul so well and I always hope they do well in Germany now.
EDIT:
Yeah it seems Schalke will play Al Sadd. Seems weird I would have thought Madrid would have been approached regarding something like this
Anyway if Raul retires he'll have a place at the club no matter what, all he'll have to do is ask and show up.

We are a disgraceful club at times when it comes to paying tributes to to people that gave their lives for the club. I'm still hurt by the way we treated our King when he left.

Raul wanted to leave, the club asked him to stay but couldn't guarantee a starting spot like before.
This isn't a big deal imo.

Really bro?? We treated him like a regular Joe leaving the club. I remember there was some half assed press conference to pay tribute to him when he left and that was it. Need I remind you which sort of tribute Schalke paid to him after only two seasons. This guy won us 3 CLs, numerous League titles, was our captain for 7 years, was one of the classiest man to ever play this game, he bled white, and he was the biggest Madridista you could find on this planet.
You still think it wasn't a big deal?

omds schalke
I wouldn't be the least surprised if same thing happened to Iker
I still remember there not even being an official statement on the website when Momo left. Real Madrid the home of ungratefulness

Re: Real forgetting Raul
Wow what a disgrace. Even though Del Piero was kinda treated bad at the end of his career at Juve, this does not even compare. You cant let a legend like that leave in such a manner.

Re: Real forgetting Raul
That's exactly what happened. We offered Raul a 2 year extension but wouldn't guarantee him the starting spot.... much more money than Schalke too; i mean like 2-3x more. But Raul wanted to start and went to a club that afforded him that.
Nothing there at all. As far as a farewell game, Madrid don't do that unless you are on the team at the time. What will happen, however, is a tribute game for him where he will be celebrated.
Just how things are done here.

Re: Real forgetting Raul
Real Madrid is like one of those perfect girls that you always dreams of but can never get with. But one day you get lucky and she wants you. Your relationship lasts a couple of months and it is the best thing you have ever experienced. But then she finds someone better and she dumps you like a worthless bag of shite no matter how much joy you gave her.

Disgraceful how they act with legends of their club. First Raul, now Kaka. They should be thankful and give the players what they deserve.

Rumours say that Raul is retiring very soon. (one last paycheck) - his shirt should get retired. Look at all the prices RM has won when he was captain. He gave them succes. They should do something back to ALWAYS remember him. Not a shitty press conference.

Kaka isn't a Madrid legend. I don't give two shites how he gets treated. He hasn't exactly given us any reason to treat him well.

What do you think the point is? Look at Schalke. They are more then a club - more likely a family. Old star players are in the board, technical staff. A player that contributed to succes, is considered a legend at the club. They get a goodbye game, a big dinner with the entire staff, they retire a number. Does RM do any of these things? No. Its a just club. No emotions. No family. More like a business. Raul dedicated his carreer to Real Madrid. They guy was practicly in love with the club and they did nothing in return.

Collblanc, mate, the number cannot be retired, it's against the rules. That's not the point of this thread.
