I agree, but whats wrong with mentioning he wasnt flawless? Why are people getting all upset about it?

Not even kidding, I've never in my life seen such an explosive surge of unwarranted hype for any up and coming talent. This has been blown beyond the deserved proportions.

Funny thing is Madrid fans from calling Ramos-Pepe two of the best CBs in the world might just flip flop on their opinions on Varane if he pulls the slightest Williamson.

I truly, truly fear for Varane and the burden of hype on his shoulders now.

Like I said before the match, I'd pick Varane over Puyol anyday. Great game from the young French man, from a goal line clearance, to several last ditch tackles, to keeping Messi in his pocket and finally scoring the goal his performance deserves.

Ramos better back up his ideas now, Mourinho already dropped him once for Varane in a crucial CL game against Man City, he wouldn't hesitate to do it more often after today's displays.

Except you think he should be guaranteed starter for France and Madrid based off 1 game and also think he's one of the best defenders in the world again based off 1 game.

When will the relentless hype of kids after achieving so little end?

You do realise the pressure you put on these kids is a reason why they fail?

When did i say that? I said that i think Varane can be a WC player in the future. He has the potential. The best defender in La Liga is.... Abidal. But he's injured. Pique was crap when i watched him in the Euros and in the clasicos before this one. I can't really rate him since i don't watch Barca otherwise. He was WC 2 years ago and, if he's back at that level, he is the best defender then.

I think Pepe and Ramos are better individual defenders at this point. But they are tactically inept, which Varane is not. As a pairing, i think Pepe-Varane or Ramos-Varane is far better. Heck, Carvalho is even better as a pairing partner with those guys.

I think Puyol is not what he used to be. Good defender... but no longer very good.

Other than that, La Liga doesn't have great defenses. I mean Lugano plays for Malaga ffs and he was atrocious at PSG. It's just not a CB rich league. In fact, i think La Liga CBs are the worst of the elite leagues in Europe overall.

Well you think Barca's defense is turd when if it wasn't for Pinto you would have lost so you're opinion is hardly being taking note of.

And Sports you said he's better than Pique thus meaning he's the best CB in La Liga.

But none the less you're post seems fair enough, i just dont like ridiculous hype on such young players as time and time again it kills them.

Sick of seeing careers killed by pressure.

I said Varane's performance today was better than Pigue's and i prefer him to Pique because the last oh 10 times i had seen Pique, he was meh. Error prone like crazy. If Pique is back to his top form, then of course not.

Do you realise he has played 40 games since he came and made no mistake ? Real Madrid fans are not judging him based on this performance, everytime he was on the pitch he was great.

I can understand some people not liking the hype but believe me it's not just one game where he has done so good. he's not a stater but whenever he was called upon he did little to no mistake which is a rarity between top defenders these days.

Same thing happened after Wilshere Barca game and quite frankly he hasn't performed to that level since although he is getting back there now.

Why do people do this every time? i think its disgusting that so much pressure is put on someone who is so young.

I'm sure potentially he is great but this pressure ( and if you're acting like it you can believe the press will) is just unfair and quite frankly un-justified.
