Ramos looks in line though when Evra falls over. It's not like it was a pure 1v1, with no players around. And besides, there needs to be a clearer and zoomed in video to see what Varane actually did.

In line? Its not an offside decision.

As I said, its obvious Evra gets into the box and gets a shot away before that.

And I seen the replay, its a obvious foul.

Ramos could have teleported between Evra and the goal. So not a red.

Looking at that video, does Varane get the ball with his left foot?

If you look closely, it looks like he got the ball with his left foot.

In this replay from far away maybe it looks like that, but in close up it is clear he doesn't.

Anyway, barely touching the ball doesn't make a challenge automatically not a foul. (But he doesn't touch it).

Why the f*ck is every one bitching about that challenge? rewind a couple minutes and Jones did the exact flipping same thing to Ozil ffs and no foul was given. If that had been given I would understand if Varane would have been penalized. Consistency is the most important thing for a ref.

I don't remember this so you're going to have to jog my memory.....

But was Ozil clean through on goal and was Jones the last man?

Its kinda the reason why people are bitching about it....

Varane wasn't the last man. At least I don't think he was.

Jones push on Di Maria was a penalty. It was never a shoulder challenge, he extended his arm all the way pushing DI Maria five meters away ffs.

Well Ozil wasn't going anywhere the whole United defense was back and Ozil was being forced wide. Jones then came across and his legs tangled up with Ozil and they both went down. United regained possession

Doesn't matter if Ozil was not through on goal. A foul at the corner flag is a foul at the half way line mate.

If anything the ref should be more lenient towards .Varane because the game could have been killed.

The five meters part was just classic Di Maria. But he was pushed for sure.

Was it a penalty? I've seen them given...

It kind of does matter.... because Evra was through on goal and and Varane foul prevented a clear goalscoring opportunity.

It wasn't that the foul is bad or anything its just the fact he was the last man and prevented a clear goalscoring opportunity.

And should be a free kick and a red card and nothing happened.

If Ozil wasn't clear on goal and Jones wasn't the last man then it shouldn't even be compared.

You are aware of the last man fouling someone to prevent a clear goalscoring opportunity = red card rule yes?

And I seen balls crossed the line and it not be given...its not even worth a mention.

If Di Maria didnt weigh less than a bag of flour with the core strength of a preteen this isnt even a talking point.

Also my comment was directed at penalty claiming it was a pen.

The circumstance doesn't mean anything. Like I said a foul is a foul not depending on what minute it is, where it is and how much of a goal scoring chance it is. You have to be consistent and the referee was.

The referee didn't give a foul on Ozil and I wouldn't be expecting him to give a foul on Ozil just for being in a "good" position.

You can't look at in what situation Evra was in, but the actual challenge.
I am not saying Varane made a clean challenge, but what he did was pretty much the exact same as Jones's.

No one is saying the actual challenge is red card worthy by it self though....

Its the mere fact Evra is through on goal and Varane is the last man is what makes it a red card offense....

The same challange as Jones...are you serious?

Jones and Di Maria went body to body when Di Maria tried to go past him, Di Maria lost, fell down and legs made contact.

Evra was out in front of Varane, already had control over the ball and Varane tripped him.

How are they the same?

Varane with another impressive performance yet again, he made several critical interception and was very strong in the air. He again proved why he's the most inform Real Madrid centre back. It's quite incredible what he's doing at 19, Real Madrid has a centreback for the next decade.
