How was the goal varanes fault. thats a shitty offside trap if anything with callejon being 100% responsible.

How is it Varane's fault if he's the RCB and the goal came from the LCB's area?

Re: Varane appreciation thread
Biggest problem for Barca is that keeper with the horse mane.... he could kill Barca's dreams by himself. No joke. Big games come down to a big play here and there. You can't have a bad keeper and survive in CL or against Madrid.
I was angry that our forwards missed the target so much and didn't force more saves. Pinto is just not good. If he starts the return leg, i like our chances, especially since we will get a lot of our missing players back.

That shit only exist on FIFA and PES, in real life both center defenders exchange position.

Pinto wont be playing in any important games. Hence, why he plays in the Copa.
Plus, today he didnt do too bad. He didnt over pass like he does, made good decisions and didnt make a error. Valdes couldnt accomplish that last time out.
He probably saves the goal, but he maybe makes an error too.

Yeh but it looked like we were trying to keep a highline/offside trap, so for that defenders are usually in their correct position.

Not that quickly. The RCB is supposed to try and recover the mistakes of the LCB and vice versa. In fact, the fullbacks are also responsible. Midfielders too in some situations; But when the LCB makes a mistake on a short pass and the forward is on goal almost immediately, there's nothing that the RCB can do. If anything, the fullback on that side has the best chance since he's closer.
It's a matter of distance and time with these things. Absolutely nothing Varane could do to avoid that goal. In fact, the only people that find fault with him regarding that goal are on GL lol.
If you look at his goalline save... it was again an error by Carvalho. But this time, there was enough time for Varane to cut across and help. If Xavi scored, it still wouldn't have been Varane's fault though.
At the end, you have primary areas of responsibility as a defender and you help only once you cover your primary areas.

Re: Varane appreciation thread
Anyone who believes that Barcelona's goal falls upon our Cb's are blind. It was a poor clearance from Callejon, who from the time he made that clearance he was keeping Cesc onside.
In no way, shape, or form was that on Varanes part. He saved us from two goals. The ridiculous backpass from Carvalho and the moment Cesc had another 1 on 1 situation.

Why doesnt anyone read anymore
Mole didnt even say it was his fault, why do people keep repeating that?
He said he was poor in the goal, not that it was his fault. There is a difference.

come on now u know when i am joking.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Mr Nick09 wrote:blablabla, bottom line is that this is varane appreciation thread, not varane perfectness thread. he is by no means perfect, but he is a damn fine young CB
Except you think he should be guaranteed starter for France and Madrid based off 1 game and also think he's one of the best defenders in the world again based off 1 game.
When will the relentless hype of kids after achieving so little end?
You do realise the pressure you put on these kids is a reason why they fail?
In all honesty tho, he deserves a harder look for both france and madrid. Madrid because Pepe-Ramos is a donkey like association and france because they havent found two solid players at the back to rely on. should we go over the list? Rami, lol; kosc, beautiful game reader but keeps on making silly mistakes, cant hold a job at arsenal; mexes, finished; sakho, coming into his own; yapou, ok; who else. so there are just Sakho and Yapou to me for the future, and since the idea is to get a pair ready for the WC, i think he deserves a very hard look that kid. Sakho and Varane both better than Yapou imo, i would try that.

Re: Varane appreciation thread
Well yeah Nick but looking forward its not just Mapou, Sakho and Varane there are many other talented defenders coming forward playing consistently.
The likes of Rami, Mexes etc etc will be phased out i imagine for those 3 and the likes of Mangala,Isimat-Mirin, Zouma etc etc there's a real talented generation coming.
Hopefully for France they all come good at least the majority of them.

The way MT said is like if a cb make a mistake the other one doesn't have the responsibility to cover him because he's restricted to his zone, it might happen on fifa but not in real life.

I think due to us trying to keep a highline, Varane maybe didn't try and cover. Not that he could have anyway, it happened too quick .

yeah but those guys are sure shot as of now since they are already on the big stage, building up a reputation.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Well yeah Nick but looking forward its not just Mapou, Sakho and Varane there are many other talented defenders coming forward playing consistently.

for others lads to get into the discussion they would have to get known first of all next season, and then join bigger clubs and perform in big games. Varane, yapou and sakho are already doing that, playing the CL against europe elite. if i am NT coach i look at these kids and how they can progress til the next world cup

Re: Varane appreciation thread
I thought he did very well, especially for a clasico debut and being 19, definitely madrid's motm. That being said I also felt he was partly to blame for the goal and that he played Messi on-side in the wrongly called off-side, and had the ref made the right decision perhaps the hype would be a little quieter.
