Re: January Transfer Thread: Rumours and BS. Mostly BS.
I get the impression you've not watched Arteta play, because he's been one of the best and most consistent players we've had this year. And Santos' perceived slowness wasn't a problem, either, because he was good too before injury. Gibbs "flat out not good enough"... not sure you've watched him play, either. Or are we confusing injury proness for not being good enough now?

He can take arteta's position, since he has not been all that good, Diaby is made of glass, and Santos is so *bleep* slow, I'm sure that he would barely win a race against Per, let alone the people he goes against in Europe, and Gibbs just flat out is not good enough, I have no idea were you are seeing any of this from. So that means we need a great leftback, a cam, someone to play for gervinho, and walcott, who would be great as a 65 minute sub because of his pace. Gervinho has been so bad I would rather have Shava there then him, so how do we not need to buy anyone for the team?

Kieran Gibbs
Thomas Vermaelen
Bacary Sagna
Carl Jenkinson
Jack Wilshere
Andre Santos
Abou Diaby
Do you know how much of difference those 3 make?
Diaby when healthy can one of the best players.
Santos has been much better than we all thought he would be.
Gibbs was solid when he played.
Arteta has been unbelievable, one of the best signing and helps out everyone.
Song has been a boss and keeps getting better.
I truly believe we have the best defense in the league when all are healthy.
We have the best striker in the world.
Creating chance was a problem early on but now we create chance after chance after chance.
If we get a CAM who is going to bench?
Been reading your comments for awhile, either you have very different perception of football or very critical of Arsenal with unfair expectation w/o considering related factors or flat out FIFA fan boy. Anyway jut my 2 cent

" England U19 International & Crewe Alexandra wonderkid Nick Powell is on Arsenal radar. All the England coaching staff top to bottom rate this kid as the real deal "
Anyone knows anything about this guy, looks like typical Wenger signing.

Re: January Transfer Thread: Rumours and BS. Mostly BS.
I haven't seen the guy play yet (Crewe are never live on tv), but a quick google search tells me he's an attacking midfielder who scored five goals last season.
Crewe have a good academy and do produce a lot of good players, though none from recent memory have played in the Premier League. One thing for sure is that Crewe won't be able to outprice us should we decide to make a move, because their strapped cash, hence their reliance on the youth they produce.
Next time the England U17's play, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for him.

No he is both, and what about arteta is good, he sits back and makes passes that can not be controlled, I mean half of his passes hit the player he passes to's foot, and then bounces halfway back to him, and Gibbs is terrible, I don't knos why clichy didn't have a better backup, I'd rather get eboue back, and play him on the left then iethere one of the two crappy lb's we have.

Cool, he's quite tall for an attacking midfielder, either way he's one for the future. Winter transfers rumor is slow today, twitter speculates Eboue coming back which is most likely bs since he will play at ACN.

Uh, what?
Little stat for you to consider. Mikel Arteta has the highest amount of successful passes in the opposition half in the whole league, and over 90% of his passes as a whole are successful.
Suffice to say, Arteta can pass a football. Don't know about anyone else, but I consider that to be a good thing about him.

another day i log on to find the podolski to arsenal deal hasnt happened... #fail
Wenger cant be counting on guys coming back. especially not wilshere, diaby, and gibbs.... and as much as i hate to say it he cant be counting on RvP either. even if he gets some minor injury and misses 3-4 games we could be screwed. we need more firepower. up the arsenal.

Just heard you're giving an Omani player a trial.
Saad Al-Mukhaini isn't a bad player so it could be a decent move by Wenger. Who knows maybe if he does well you guys will look for more Omani players who I think have the raw talent it takes to make it in Europe.
What do you guys think?

Henry deal should be done in next few hours
Only admin and processing documents holding up Henry loan. Time diff to New York (-5 hrs) isn't helping but should meet 12pm deadline.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed his interest in signing a defender on loan in January.
The Gunners have struggled to name two specialist full-backs for much of the season with Bacary Sagna, Carl Jenkinson, Kieran Gibbs and Andre Santos all currently injured.
Thomas Vermaelen has been filling in at left-back recently but he is also now injured, forcing Wenger's hand.
"At the moment nothing, we don't have a concrete case but we don't rule it [a signing] out," the Frenchman told Arsenal Player. "[A loan defender is] the likely scenario, yes.
"[I am expecting a] quiet [transfer window]. Europe is depressed and there is not a lot of money available, only some clubs who have exceptional resources.
"Let's say that clubs who are not linked with the economic environment at the moment can buy."
Manchester City's forgotten man Wayne Bridge has been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium alongside AC Milan's Nigerian left-back Taye Taiwo.
The Gunners are also expected to complete the temporary signing of Thierry Henry.

Re: January Transfer Thread: Rumours and BS. Mostly BS.
Spartak Moscow striker Welliton is being chased by Liverpool and Arsenal.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal are keen to bolster their forward line and have been linked with a move for the 5ft 9in forward.
Spartak Moscow are desperate to keep their prolific forward but would consider offers in the region of £7m.
Kenny Dalglish and Arsene Wenger will have to act fast if they want to sign him as reports in Russia suggest that Fiorentina and Borussia Dortmund have also entered the race to clinch his signature.

ahhh no way, I don't know much about Welliton but he goes up to 86-87 in FIFA career mode 7m sounds cheap for a player with that kind of talent/potential.
Anyone know anything about him?

Yeah I'm saying it is bogus because all the pass has to do is get there. Spell what out? Your point about Arteta not being able to do anything good in the side is complete and utter bollocks, and shows that you don't understand the role he plays in the side.
The mere fact that your saying we should buy a CAM to replace Arteta in the side is another indication of your lack of udnerstanding about where he actually plays in the team and what he does.

Mate, he is absolutely essential. He dictates the tempo of our game whether we're attacking or under pressure. Namely under pressure so it's vital to have a good passer or a level-headed passer when you're under pressure. Every team has it's fulcrum, he's ours. A lot of people say Xavi does the same thing with short quick passes, but it's necessary. Have you been watching the games btw??

Re: January Transfer Thread: Rumours and BS. Mostly BS.
Arsenal have completed the re-signing of legendary striker Thierry Henry on a two-month loan deal.
The move has been mooted for weeks but had been held up due to negotiations between the Gunners and Henry's current club, New York Red Bulls.
Henry could feature in eight Premier League games if fully fit and available, the last of which could be a mouth-watering north London derby against Tottenham.
A statement from Arsenal read: "Thierry Henry has today rejoined Arsenal on a short-term loan deal.
"After negotiations between Arsenal, Henry, the New York Red Bulls and Major League Soccer, the striker will team up with the Gunners on a temporary basis during a period of fixtures in January and February that will see Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh depart for Africa Cup of Nations duty."
A bronze statue of Henry was recently unveiled at the Emirates Stadium alongside iconic former skipper Tony Adams and revolutionary manager Herbert Chapman, and the Frenchman admitted his surprise at the deal.
Henry told Arsenal's official website: "It is unreal to be honest. But when it comes to Arsenal my heart will always do the talking.
"Once I knew the plan behind it I was OK with it. I am not coming here to be a hero or prove anything, I am just coming here to help. People have to understand that.
"Marouane and Gervinho are going to the Africa Cup of Nations, so I was asked to fill in the gap. It is a loan deal and I’ll be on the bench most of the time. If I can make the bench that is!
"The boss has a team here already who are doing something good. I am just going to be part of the squad."
Henry also moved to reassure New York Red Bulls supporters, some of whom were reportedly concerened that their star striker may not return to the club.
But Henry continued: "I want to send a message to the fans of New York Red Bulls as well. I always said I would not play in Europe again. But it is hard for me when it comes to Arsenal.
"I am not coming here for the whole season, I will be back and I want to win the MLS Cup with the Red Bulls. I hope it is win-win situation where I can help Arsenal and come back fit for the MLS season."
Henry is Arsenal's record goalscorer after netting 226 times in 369 appearances after joining from Juventus in 1999.
Originally a winger, Henry was transformed under Arsene Wenger into one of the world's most feared strikers, winning Premier League and FA Cup titles.
Wenger said: “I am very happy, It was my desire and Thierry’s desire. We will have Thierry for January and in February and then he will go back to the United States.
"I am sure during these two months he will be a massive asset to the team in the dressing room and on the pitch. He can be relaxed, not under too much pressure and be a tremendous help to the team.”
Henry had a stint as Gunners captain before going on to Barcelona where he won every competition possible in one magnificent year under Pep Guardiola in 2009.
The Frenchman has also won the World Cup and European Championship with his country, for whom he is also the record goalscorer with 51 strikes in 123 international games.
Arsenal have confirmed the forward will wear the No.12 shirt for the duration of his temporary stay, with his iconic No.14 shirt occupied by winger Theo Walcott.

Re: January Transfer Thread: Rumours and BS. Mostly BS.
Martin O'Neill says he hasn't heard anything from Arsenal over a proposed move for versatile midfielder Kieran Richardson.
The former Manchester United man — who has had an impressive season at the Stadium of Light — was reported to be on the Gunners radar during the January transfer window.
But new Black Cats boss O'Neills said: "Arsenal have not been in touch with me, I don't know anything about it.
"I asked the chief executive as well and she said no, there hasn't been anybody in touch yet.
"But what I have said is that I would keep players informed about what is happening.
"Obviously, I don't want to rush players to leave the football club. I would rather think about stabilising things here, and hopefully we can try to progress from there.
"But regardless of whether you are going to be doing business or not, you are going to be linked with players, clubs are going to be linked with some of our players, and at this minute we are hanging in there."

Arsenal are battling with Everton and 14 other European clubs for the services of VVV Venlo winger Ahmed Musa, 19, after the club confirmed he is set to leave the Eredivise outfit during the January transfer window. (Metro)
Out of the 14 clubs,at least 5 clubs would have come to know that Ahmed Musa existed,ONLY after Arsenal started scouting/showing interest on him.
