David Silva
There a lot of discussion today in general dection about David Silva.
I feel he is now in his prime and should now likely be considered a starter on Spanish NT. I had dinner the other night with some fans of Man City and they said he is the reason they are doing so well this year (Aguero interesting is the other).
What I regret is we could have had him instead of Di maria and for the same price. Imagine our team now if we had taken him over Di maria.
CR7 Higgy or Benz Silva
Alonso Ozil Sahin
That offense would be as good as Barca without doubt.

Re: David Silva
seems extremely unlikely for us to go after him now... considering the price and wages, hazard or goetze would be a much better option.
besides, wasn't it mou who rejected this transfer in the first place? don't see him changing his mind anytime soon.

I wasn't suggesting that. It's such a shame Mou doesn't appreciate Spanish talent!!!

Re: David Silva
I'm sure Mou appreciates Spanish talent. Honestly we should have signed him before Mou even came.
We didn't sign Silva because Valencia always turn into psychotic douche bags when we come knocking on their door.

I've heard rumors of Mou blocking the almost done deal, since silva would have been a valdano signing. Is it true??

Re: David Silva
You can never really tell with these things.
I'd blame Valencia though, they made it really hard to negotiate.

Re: David Silva
You know, i think we could have done it, but Mou happened.
From Pelle and Valdano point of view, Sneijder-Silva combination behind Ronaldo-HIguain could have been orgasmic.

if De La Red was still there...DLR-Alonso (Spain midfield)

DLR is being missed...
Yeah Silva was an unfortunate mistake but Di Maria has played well, lets look forward...

Re: David Silva
Di Maria did very well last season better than Silva in fact
Just needs to seriously get his act together this season

We should of signed him instead of Di Maria.
There was actually a Di Maria vs Silva/Pedro poll on the old forums.

Re: David Silva
We don't know how Silva or Di Maria will play for the rest of the season but Di Maria was better than Silva last season and Silva has been better so far this season so I'm not really concerned about it and nothing can be done now.

Re: David Silva
Di Maria is an individualist while Silva plays within the flow, while still showing individual talent. That's a huge weakness of Di Maria's... he doesn't make any of the simple plays. none. everything is always very complicated.

Re: David Silva
A lot of comments about we didn't get Silva because of Valencia.
NOT TRUE
We are used to getting our way in dealing with Spanish clubs and are often very rough almost acting as a bully in grapping talent. Barcelona by the way is almost the same.
It's the 2nd tier clubs (Valencia. Atlectico, Villareal and Sevilla) that are not as easy to deal with. That doesn't make them the bad guy nor does it mean we can't make a deal with them (maybe Sevilla with Nido is an exception - he just hates us so much he won't make a deal at all, although there are 2 notable exceptions that I can think of Ramos and Alves).
We had a deal with Valencia for Villa but it was Villa himself who killed deal, he didn't want to come to Madrid. We inquired about Silva and were told a price and at the same time inquired about Navas (Nido basically would not sell him) and Di Maria. The price for both Silva and Di maria was almost the same. Then arrives Mou and he chose Di Maria. So we ended up with the inferior player only because of Mou, nothing to do with Valencia.
Also note, I am not in any way suggesting we get or go after Silva now, I'm just saying what a mistake we made.
