Lille?
Have just sold Yohan Cabaye to Newcastle, have lost Adil Rami to Valencia, days away from selling Gervinho to Arsenal, and will only be able to hold onto Hazard for another year max.
What the hell are they going to do in Ligue 1 and the Champions League?

Re: Lille?
It was bound to happen, their players were just too hot.
They should go after Martin asap. they can rebuild, providing they sign the right players.

Re: Lille?
For Gervinho it was sure.
But Cabaye choosing to downgrade to Newcastle and Rami choosing to go to Valencia is not good. Their players leave for average clubs, not even for big clubs.
Lille needs to stay a few years around the CL spot to be able to raise their salaries. They are not enough poweful financially.
They signed Pedretti to replace Cabaye and they are after Payet.

valencia >>> lille
they probably realised this year was a fluke... still though leaving a cl club for newcastle is baffling

In France PSG, Lille and Lyon are interested.
Lille title was not a fluke it was deserved. Even if the club is still smaller than OL and OM they have a shot at playing the top 3 each season.

Re: Lille?
Apparently Cabaye will be earning something between £30,000 and £50,000 p/w at Newcaslte, so it's not as if he's left for money either. Unless he was actually on ridiculously low wages at Lille, it just seems like a strange move. No disrespect intended towards Newcastle.

That's what the press is saying. Cabaye was paid 80k€/month at Lille.

80k/month at Lille?
Woah...This is weird. He left a CL club, and Ligue 1 champions, to join Newcastle in the EPL where even the Europa League is out of reach and for less wages?
Does not make sense at all

Fair enough but i assure you it wont happen. we dont pay high wages under Ashley our wage cap is 50 k we wont go higher than that.
@ Fady with the player's we want i would'nt be suprised if we qualify for Europa League. We may have finished 12th last year but were 2 points from 8th and threw away load's of last minute lead's more than Arsenal id argue, lots of long term injurys basically having no Striker from Febuary onwards.
Tbh i would not suprised if we are battling for Europa League come April.

Poor Lille. Same things happen everywhere. In Holland, too. Any lesser club wanting glory will have it hard, because once they do earn it any consistency is bought out.

True, those hidden clauses make for some great buys, like Sahin.Immaculate_Mole wrote:Sushi Master wrote:Poor Lille. Same things happen everywhere. In Holland, too. Any lesser club wanting glory will have it hard, because once they do earn it any consistency is bought out.

I know that's why 50k pounds a week >>>>>>> 80k euros a month
he is multiplying his salary by 4. he took a risk, he can get noticed playing in england as well by bigger clubs, while Lille not achieving much in CL next season because they lost everyone, could have impacted his career negatively. He isnt the most highly rated midfielder in france, far from it, he is just taking a chance, while making sure he can buy two porsches a month

Re: Lille?
From the search I have made it appears Cabaye is going to earn around 60k€/week or 300 000€/months, that's the two numbers I have found.
It is obvious he left Lille just for the wages. Newcastle has a story but they are not going to be contending for the PL before a moment.

Re: Lille?
Well, the top places in the EPL table go like this:
United
Chelsea
City
Arsenal
Liverpool
Spurs
Everton
Fulham
Aston Villa
Sunderland
Notice how Aston Villa and Sunderland both missed out on the Europa League as well. Sunderland DRASTICALLY underperformed in the second half of the season and had a much more serious injury problem than Newcastle. If everything goes as its supposed to next season, then I definitely see them snatching a Europa League spot.
